No such law exists. You are an adult and you have to protect yourself.

Next I doubt their policy is to actually hold your money as this would cause them to pay taxes now banks are different though.

Banks hold your money into their own "accounts" before being processed into your account which earns them interest. #Factsoflife

Best Buy in Fairfax, Virginia - No more Bestbuy!!

Hi all, I am in Navy and stationed in Bahrain. I bought a laptop online from BestBuy in May 13 for my wife as a gift. I paid over $500 for the new Core I5 and 8gb ram. I came home 2 days ago, August 15, and excited to check out the new laptop. But when I opened it, I realized it is Core I3 and only 4gb ram. I contacted Besbuy 1-800 and was told it is a easy fix. All I have to do is to bring the laptop to the store and get the right one. When I brought it to the store yesterday, 08/17, I was told that they couldn't do anything for me and they gave me the 1-800 again. I called BestBuy again at the first time to explain the situation, I was told that my wife should checked the system when she opened the laptop. I told them my wife is not a geek like bestbuy people. I was put on hold them disconnected. I called again and tried to epxplain again, then i was told there is nothing they could do for me because it was over 30 days. I told them i did get a wrong stuff. They told me it is the corporate policy so there is nothing for them to do for me. I told them i paid for Core I5 and i received I3. It was there fault from beginning. Later they told me they can give me $90 dollars gift card and nothing else. I told them i paid a lot more for this I3 laptop and if they could not give me the right one then they should return the money that i paid for the price of I5. ANd again I was explained that because of the coporate policy, they couldn't return the money to me. It is mean that srewed me. It is all my fault. I don't need a any *** money from them. ALl i need is they treat me as a customer, not like a dump guy. So from now on, there is no more buying stuff from this people. I am sorry to my wife when i didn't keep my promise to my wife with a good laptop so she can take care her school. There is no more buying stuff at BB from anyone in my family and my friend. I will tell how BB treat me to anyone i meet.

Best buy....cheaters (Some of the sales reps)

@ Best Buy - Carolina Mall Nc , 10600 Centrum Parkway, Pineville, NC 28134-8810 (704) 543-4575 Don't trust the words of some of the sales representatives at this Best Buy!!! I recently bought a sprint data card from best buy, the sales person who sold clearly told me that I can return the device in next 30 days and I won't have any issues with the contract. For some personal reasons I wanted to return the device and when I took it to the shop, I was told that the contract has already started with Sprint and as per sprint policy I should have returned the device within 14 days else sprint would charge me a $250 early termination. Unfortunately I was in my 15th day and after a long discussion everything seems to be useless. I also tried calling sprint but again it's useful for nothing. I had to raise my voice due to my frustration and the lady who was handling me told that DON'T YELL IN THE SHOP. I don't know what else frustrated customer do on earth in this situation (probably she might be thinking that Best buy customer would take whatever talks their sales reps would do against their customers) So ultimately the lesson learned "Best Buy customers please be aware at this shop, read the return policy even though the sales reps explain it 1000 times, they may lie to increase the profit of the shop and they don't care about any their customers.

the original poster is just a ***. while I feel bad for him because of the situation, he just wasn't able to return it. now he wants to blame it on everyone other than the person who is mostly at fault, himself.

I am not sure how Best Buy will stay in business with the people they hire to push their products. I went to the store in Tukwila, WA yesterday to pre-order the Samsung Galaxy Note (upgrade)- even though the phone was advertised as being able to pre-order on that day, their system was down.

I was told to call back today 2/6. I call as they were opening - someone named Karina said she would call me back they were waiting for their system to boot up. I waited over an hour - then called them back and asked for the person that had told me she would call me back. I got a gentleman that helped me finish my pre-order finally but in the back ground I could hear a female voice sarcastically mimicking my voice as I had asked for Karina.

Now if these employees cannot be anymore discrete than this and not be openly rude, they really do deserve to lose their jobs.

I will pick up my phone but will never visit this store again. My customer dollars do NOT need to go to paying someone to be rude to me.

The return policy was listed on your receipt. It's the similar policy for all electronics at all stores in every part of the country.

And then you had the nerve to start yelling at them in their own store.

Best Buy Corporate Office: (612) 291-1000 Customer Care: (888) 237-8289 I have called the 888 # so many times, now I finally found the corporate # and actually on the phone as I typed...hopefully I will get results. I called the store...no result. So the Best Buy Corporate Office number acutally works, just be courteous and speak nicely and they will help. If you fly off the handle, that doesnt help you at all. Hopefully I will post my update at what has happened and the end result. Great Luck to everyone. I don't think I will buy from them every again...I miss Circuit City.
