Scheduled delivery and installation, then they shipped the air conditioners UPS!!! | Best Buy review from New York, New York

My experience with Best Buy is the worst shopping experience I have ever had in 55 years of life. It began with a sweet but incompetent representative on the phone who knew NOTHING about the merchandise and took 45 minutes to take the order, getting information wrong repeatedly. I purchased two air conditioners and asked if there was a delivery charge if you opted for delivery and installation rather than shipping. She said no. I asked if they would take away the old air conditioners for free. She said yes. THEN I went through the length process of scheduling delivery and installation, which was to be next Thursday. Yesterday I received an email saying the air conditioners had SHIPPED. I figured this was an error. I would never have agreed to receive the air conditioners via UPS as I have no doorman or lobby and would be unable to carry the air conditioners up four flights of stairs. I spent two hours on the phone today with UNhelpful customer service reps who insisted there was nothing they could do despite the fact that it was BB’s error. They NEVER told me the air conditioners would be shipped. Quite the opposite. I would NEVER have agreed! They said they couldn’t change the delivery or stop it or cancel the order. NOW THAT’S CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Finally had to call American express to stop payment, and refuse the order from UPS and demand the rep send me an email promising to refund both the cost of the air conditioners and of the installation. Then I called my old friend P.C Richards. They deliver and install, at the same time, remove the old a/c’s and do not charge extra for walk-ups. It will cost me $100 more, but no headaches. Done and done. I will NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER buy from BEST BUY again. Dr. Susan Jonas

My BestBuy.com experience with store pick up | Best Buy review from New York, New York

I ordered a Wii console with Wii Sport and Wii sport resort for 129.99 from the BestBuy.com for store pick up as a gift for my son's birthday. The next day I logged on to the site to check the order, only to find out that it was cancelled. No e-mail was sent to me, nor was I otherwise notified that my order was cancelled. I called customer service who could not even tell me why the order was cancelled. It was not in the computer, so they had no idea what happened and transferred me to another department. After a while, almost 40 minutes on the phone, we found out that my order was sold at the store where it was suppose to wait for pick up. A lady in that department (manger as the regular worker did not even understand the situation) told me that I have to re-order the purchased item. As a courtesy for the inconvenience she gave a discount on the price and I ordered a new system for 100 dollars plus tax to be picked up in another store. She assured me that this will not happen again. I received a confirmation e-mail that my order is ready to be picked up at the store. Three hours later I receive another e-mail stating that my order was cancelled due to credit card issues. I called customer service again. The person speaking to me tried to tell me that the problem was with the credit card; however the card was charged by the store and the money did not even return back to the account. I asked to speak with her supervisor and she dropped the call. She just hanged up on me. I called back and after about 30 minutes was able to speak with the supervisor...again my order was re-sold at the store where I was supposed to pick it up. She said she was sorry, but the item was not available anymore. Nothing could be done so I ended up without my order (not to mention courtesy discount). May be all these cancellations were done so I would not get my discount? In the end I purchased the system from GameStop.com, so my son would have his gift. So couple of days after the GameStop purchase I wanted to shop for some games for Wii. I went to BestBuy.com and tried making a purchase of MarioKart game. Made a purchase and immediately received an e-mail that my order was cancelled, followed by a confirmation of sale e-mail. I tried ordering it three times and three times I received cancelled e-mail. So the bottom line is: during this purchasing experience my orders were re-sold by multiple stores. I was never notified of the first cancellation. BestBuy customer service lied to me, kept me on hold for over 2 hours (combined), made promises that were never fulfilled and in the end were not able to resolve any issues. The site is useless for purchasing as it does not allow to buy anything. Forget about bestbuy and go to another store.

Radio install without proper set up | Best Buy review from New York, New York

I purchased a Kenwood radio for my wife's Hyundai from Best Buy Westbury, NY. She went to the store to get it installed and was told to read the manual to set it up. Is that anyway to service what you sell? Like most manual's, the terms used don't correspond with the equipment installed so it is impossible to follow. A week later and the radio is still unusable except for CD's. I was able to program one FM station but found the process counter intuitive. I do not blame Best Buy for the manual that is a Kenwood issue. The AM band is filled with static.

you cant expect best buy to know how all these different types of models and company radios work. all the installer does is install the radio, i wouldnt expect them to tell me how to use it.

i would call kenwood and get them to help me. it is like asking someone at a grocery store on how to cook a turkey.

From what I read you were the one acting rudely. I would not want to help you if you acted the way you did.

All because he gave you the wrong change. Do you not make a mistake?

You have to learn to treat people the way you want to be treated. I have shopped at Best buy for years and have always been treated very well but then I do not start cursing if they make a mistake.

I'm not seeing the problem, dude. If they cancelled your order, you obviously got your money back, or no money was ever taken off the card to begin with, so I don't see what the issue is.

Defective/Used DVD's sold as NEW | Best Buy review from New York, New York

Purchased 3 DVD's on 03/17/13. When I openned the first one I noticed the factory "seal" with DVD title was missing. The "seal" is a tape adheard to DVD case with movie title and must be removed in order to open the case. This DVD was defective and would not play in 2 different DVD players. The second DVD was also missing the factory "seal". Did not open this one. The third DVD has the factory seal. Will attempt to exchange/return the two missing factory seal. Feel I have been scammed by Best Buy. I was deliberately scammed by Best Buy and am now burdened with correcting this situation. Do not trust Best Buy any more. Stay Away!!!

Westinghouse television | Best Buy review from New York, New York

the box was not opened until a month ,I have a full time school scedule at suffolk county community college .I was refused a return on a television that was clearly damaged from another source .I did not rearize it was also repacked before I purchased it. I refused to take the broken television back with me and told I broke it and was embarrassed ,harressed ,and treated with very little respect from the sales manager Steven Lennon .store 458 I am so upset that I am going down any possible path to rectify this bull----action taking by a fifty billion dollar a year business .I recieved a copy of a paper saying how the television had multable scratches and dents without the mention of the crack in the screen ,which was why I brought it back .It had a multitude on colored lines throughout the whole screen . I am going to the better business bureau,as well as set up a table on the outside of the store and will stay thier as long as I can to share this shady ended business dealings from a fifty billion a year in sales rippoff store .I also have a church member fellow christain and friend who is a reporter for channel 12 news .So because of one very rude employee ,You have managed to *** off a very angry Vietnam Veteran .It is not what is right and wrong anymore .I t just turned into matters of princible .The very basis of what our country is based on .I do not even think you can even phanthom the radifications that fron this will transpire from this rude obnoxious harassing little worm of a man .

By looking at your gramer and spelling you need to spend your spare time in school instead of camping out at the store. I do not know what good that will do.

Lol your first mistake was buying a westinghouse. I used to work for best buy and let me tell you theres a reason those are the cheapest tv's we sell.

Theyre a piece of ***.

Even us former and current employees regret selling them. but we don't choose what the store decides to sell.

So you can't understand why a store wouldn't want to take back a TV that was broken a month after purchase? Way to call out the manager by name on a complaint site. This is why employees do not give out last names. 50 billion dollars a year business? Please show me any source you have that shows Best Buy has ever made anything close to that in a year.

Vietnam veteran, huh? What does that have to do with anything? Nothing, but you just have to throw that out there to try to get more people to cry in their beers for you. You go off on a spiteful, ignorant rant and you call yourself a Christain. Jeez, you have all kinds of problems.

BEST BUY SELLING BROKEN TVS AND WILL NOT RETURN THEM!

On October26, 2012, I purchased on my Master Card, a Samsung 51” Plasma TV at Best Buy store #1538, 1202 New Brunswick Ave, Phillipsburg, NJ 08865 as a gift for my son. When he opened the box on November 24, 2012 after obtaining a new TV stand, the screen was cracked. We returned that day to Best Buy with the TV and spoke to the Manager, Brian Andrews. He stated that he wouldn’t exchange the TV as it was past the 3 day return policy and told me to contact Samsung as it must have been damaged in their warehouse and they should issue me a “R.A” (Return Authorization) and they he would make the exchange. That same day, 11-24, I phoned the main office of Best Buy and Representative Chelsea, stated she would advise corporate of same and call me back. I also phoned Master Card that day to cancel payment but it was already paid, but was told Master Card would dispute the payment. I talked to Samsung and got the process started but they have to review it. I have not had a return call from Samsung at this time. On November 26, 2012, a Best Buy representative returned my call (extension # 54856) and explained that the store manager, Brian, said I did not have the TV with me on the 24th of November. That is a false statement as I had the TV in my vehicle so my son and I could make an exchange and I told that to the Manager and the salesgirl at the register. The TV was and is still in the protective wrap, with a crack in the screen. On November 28, 2012, Samsung had finally got back to me and after talking to three different people, they still insist that Best Buy is responsible to exchange the TV. I was told by a person at Samsung that “Best Buy is famous for damaging merchandise in their warehouse.”

When buying a tv from BB, ALWAYS make them open the box for inspection before you leave the store. Particularly on plasmas.

I've worked at a couple different BBs and at one we did this automatically for all plasmas and larger sized tvs.

As the Samsung rep told you, BB is notorious for damaging products in the warehouse. Especially televisions.

Call Master Card and tell them that you want to file a complaint against Best Buy under the Fair Credt Billing Act of 1966. You have a year to file your complaint.

Ask Master Card about information they need for you to submit. If they just tell you that they are "investigating" then you have no legal standing when they should comeback and say that you did not submit a complaint.
