Defective laptop. Went to Best Buy, Citrus Park Lane location, Tampa, Florida. As I have a service contract there. It was 11:30am was told by customer service I had to make appointment. Even though there were only two people at the service desk I was not allowed to wait. They gave me an appointment time of 2:15pm same day. So I left the store and then returned at 2:00pm. Two trips to Best Buy. Waiting on line with my appointment slip in my hand. As rep at desk had a customer. Couple steps in behind me with a computer that needs repair. I asked them if they had made an appointment. They told me they hadn't. I told them they needed to get one as that was the new policy explained to me earlier in the morning. Right then a Geek Squad guy named Sheldon came over and began asking the walk-ins what they needed. They said dropping off a computer for repair. Same thing I was doing. Then Sheldon asks me what I am doing there. I showed him my appointment slip and told him I had been there earlier in the morning but had returned, having been given an afternoon appointment. Sheldon tells me I have to wait since it is only 2:05pm . He tells the walk-ins don't worry he can take them now there is an open slot in the scheduling then he turns to me and tells me again I will have to wait until 2:15 per my appointment. Sheldon takes the walk-ins ahead of me and serves them at the far end of the counter. I asked to speak with a manager. Geek Squad manager listens to my story and then says he will find a rep to take care of me. Meanwhile minutes go by and Sheldon finishes helping the walk-ins. The walk-in couple walks past me and the guy slams his fist into a piece of paper and tells me "see I got what I needed!!" and walks away. Sheldon (foreign accent/foreign extraction) comes back and tries to argue with me and I told him I did not want him near me and did not want him helping me he as he is a disgrace and knows nothing about business. The other reps had to pull him away as he wanted to engage me on the issue. This employee had a terrible attitude yet wanted to prove me wrong! This store is a disaster. Don't recommend the customer service here it's absolutely bizarre.

Cell Phone Review

I bought my granddaughter a cell phone from there at Christmas it stopped working and return it in January and on March 22nd it stopped working again and they wouldn't exchange for the same phone. I have spent thousand of dollars there . I'm really upset with them. Angry grandmother.

Purchasing "OPEN ITEM" televisions | Best Buy review from Tampa, Florida

All of my televisions I have purchased from Best Buy since 1994...and ALL of them have been previously used as displays, "OPEN ITEM" or returned TVs, and I've had no problems. Of course, I did the smart thing in checking them out, like this customer did...making them play for about 30 minutes, watching for screen anomalies, scratches and dents on the cabinets, checking the parts list inside the user manuals, and so on. Purchasing a TV this way can save you big money anywhere you go! After all, you aren't watching the scratches, and you're probably just going to throw the box away when you get home, right? If you happen to luck (yes, it's LUCKY!) onto a TV that they are trying to sell you that's totally DEAD, you really have something to bargain with now! Oh, they'll apologize up and down, promise that it never happens, blah-blah-blah...you're STILL going to ask for even more money off the set just because you're having regrets about wanting to buy from them! Yeah...the salesman doesn't make anything on those kinds of deals, but the stores are highly motivated to move those sets, or THEY get charged for carrying them! Their poor operational planning just translated into $$$ saved for you! Personally, I've used those extra $$$ off to purchase a Geek Squad extended warranty. On "OPEN ITEMS", it doesn't guarantee you a brand new TV should yours happen to go south, but I can't afford to drop $2,000.00 for a TV just anytime, either. At least it keeps my money in a TV purchase for at least four years. And for those of you who refuse to partake in such things, the return policy and manufacturer's warranty on those items are still in full force! Take that money you've saved off MSRP and put it towards whatever strikes your fancy!

Poor service - Westbury | Best Buy review from Tampa, Florida

I would like to file a complaint about Christine from the Samsung Galaxy Kiosk area. I had just purchased a Note 4 and needed assistance with switching all the data over from my old device. She was by far too busy texting on her iPhone and even made a remark " It was past her time to be there". This is a very poor reflection on Best Buy as well as Samsung. I would hope that this issue gets addressed. I think it was very distasteful that as a paying customer she had total disregards that I was in need of assistance, but made time to address her personal device.

This was something that needed to be addressed at the store level. 1) If she was unable to help you, she a) shouldn't have been on the floor, b) shouldn't have been talking on her cell in uniform, c) should have taken you to the employee on duty.

2) Until she's off the clock, she's available...

3) If she's not working, she should be off the floor. I need to stop now before my head explodes.

went to purchase a bundle deal that was offer in the bb ad for $349.- at time of ck-out the item rang up $449.- I ask to speak to a manager instead they called a rep lead from the game dept he was very rude and a lair and tells me there is nothing he can do and walks away ..so I ask to speak to the store manager here comes another lead rep and tells me ok it is the same item we will honor the price give me a minute I will be right back here I waited 30 minutes and she never shows up so I asked once again to speak to the store manager which then I was told was not avail she was interviewing new hires so they get the manager from the geek sq after explaining the problem she calls to the back to see what happen to the lead rep and tells me shes coming now here the 2 rep show up with some copy about misprint and a extra copy for me now really why would I need a copy ..so we all know thats what they were both doing back there that took 30 minutes the first rude rep try to tell me that was posted by the console if it was why did he not get it immediately because we all know that ad was not posted any where in the store to start with I could not find the item and one of the store rep give me the item from the shelf when I showed him the ad..I am an elite best buy customer never had such a worst experience than this one no customer should ever be treated like this no matter what the situation is .. Service Plan that isn't... | Best Buy review from Tampa, Florida

My review is simple. Best Buy will gladly take your money month after month, but when it comes time to actually provide the service you're paying for, they will do the bare minimum while also demonstrating legendary incompetence. The service plan is a ripoff, plain and simple. I walked into the Apple store this morning, and within 5 minutes, the staff member had diagnosed my problems (something that three Geek Squad people were unable to do in over an hour). Additionally, and under no obligation to do anything for me, he solved the problem and retained me as a longterm customer. Best Buy has lost me as a customer, and the fact that I'm even taking the time to write this is rather silly since they've made it clear they don't care about the value of a customer.

Best Buy lied to me about my computer

I bought a computer at Best Buy. Within 6 months it was not working. I bought their Geek Squad package. They checked it out and told me the mother board was not good. That it would have to be replaced but that the computer was under warranty so they were going to send it away to be repaired. They said they were sending it to the company I bought it from and that they were authorized dealers to act on behalf of that company and their warranty. 3 weeks later they call me and tell me that the computer had water damage and would not be covered and gave me a price of over 400 to repair it. I bought an Apple computer and told them not to fix it. A friend of mine who is an IT guy told me that Best Buy is notorious for this and the computer had probably not even gone back to the company. He took my computer and sent it to Asus for me. It was repaired within a week and there was no water damage and it was covered. I could not believe that this company was misleading people like that and I want people to know they they don't send anything back to the company who made the computer. They send to their own company.

File a complaint with your State Attorney's Office of Consumer Protection. BB has been cited many times for not honoring purchases.

This is one of the many reasons they are not far from bankrupcy.

Many retailers will not hire ex-BB employees for fear that they do not have retail ethics.

Also, the Dec 2012 issue of CONSUMER REPORTS rate retailers on page 25. Best Buy is on the bottom.

If I didn't happen to mention it to my husbands IT guy I would have just taken what they said as fact. As soon as I told him he said let me look at that computer.

Best Buy does this all the time. I was wondering how they could say water damage when I had never had any water or liquids near the computer but I figured I just wouldn't argue with them nor would I fix the computer.

When the IT guy looked at it and told me what he was doing I thought what the heck and sure enough no water damage and also 100% covered. I was just lucky.
