Best Buy in Vienna, Virginia - Horrible appliance purchase experience

3.0
Details
My dishwasher purchase and installation was a complete disaster and I had such a horrible experience w. I'm not saying this is any particular person's fault, but bestbuy's sales and appliance delivery system is really outdated which prevents bestbuy's customer service representative to fix things for me. I was supposed to just wait at home for 4 hours out of 1 day for this but I ended up waited 16 hours out of 3 days and called at least 10 times to get this done. My origin appointment for dishwasher delivery and installation was Nov 21th, which bestbuy were supposed to deliver, install and haul-away at the same time. However I received a call that morning from the installer saying the warehouse didn't have the dishwasher available. Then I called to reschedule this for Nov 25 which I took a day off. However, I only got dishwasher dropped at my home without anyone to install it, plus the dishwasher installation kit was not delivered. Then I spent at least 2+ hours on 5+ calls to re-schedule the installation. I can't take any time off so I have to reschedule it for Dec 5th while having this extra dishwasher sitting in my small kitchen for over a week. I spent another 3+ calls trying to make sure the installation kit came with the installer on Dec 5th. Again, it failed. I have to buy another installation kit myself so that the installer can install the dishwasher because bestbuy's system is so disconnected. Ironically, on Dec 5th, someone showed up in the morning trying to haul away my dishwasher and I told him that another installer is coming and will do that. Now I expect to spend another 3+ calls trying to get a refund for my installation kit which never arrived. All the representative I talked were having trouble connecting those several items of a single order together (dishwasher, deliver, installation kit, haul away, installation service). I am really unhappy about the entire experience and probably will never buy an appliance from bestbuy .

My frail and elderly mother (88 yrs. old) asked me to buy her a new TV and have it installed. I live 90 miles away so I called Best Buy in her town (Muncie, Indiana) and made sure they had the model she needed in stock, and asked how much they would charge to deliver...

Best Buy in Toronto, Ontario - Geek Squad as well as sales representatives are so so so Bad and Liars, unfortunately!!!

Geek Squad as well as sales representatives are so so so Bad and Liars, unfortunately!!! I bought a laptop couples of months ago as an open box but it was a pretty new and they gave me $30 off on it. At the beginning when they tried to start the machine up, it was very slow and not working probably. So the sale representative offer to me to restore the machine and optimize it for me for free in order to convince me to buy it. I agreed since I know this type of enhancement costs $100. I pick the laptop up couple of days later. when I went home I put the battery on the power for couple of hours. I switch on and it was amazing full of speed and super enhanced. I installed all the software programs that I need, including Matlab and others, which cost me a lot of money. Later, when I feel the battery is full, I got the plug out. Disaster happened, the Laptop shut down!!! %100 I will not exchange my laptop after I spent hours installing the software. I had a project to finish at the end of last term ( November and December). I know, I have one year warranty for anything happen to the machine, I decided to postpone the visit later during any time in the year to do a visit to very bad and non-understandable people working in Geek squad and Best buy sales representatives! It will be my last time purchasing from this shop!!! I cannot believe the guy who optimize the machines was not a ware about the broken battery in the first spot!!!! That is too bad

Simon IS a Best Buy shill. He has been on this site for at least 2 years.

He used to get pissed at some guy who used to give legal advice against BB. I wish that guy would come back.

The resolution settings need to be changed in the Playstation settings and if you want 1080p resolution, you have to use an HDMI cable. It has nothing to do with your TV.

I would charge you too because it sounds like it's more user incompetence rather than a defective TV.

Best Buy in Denver, Colorado - I am a fool

I have purchased cell phones, desk tops, lap tops, printers, scanners, service plans etc. from Best Buy and each and every time their sales reps and customer service has been dismal. After being transferred twice during a telephone conversation today with Geek Squad and being placed on-hold for over 45 minutes because the "Geeks" knew less about the programs and products that they sell and service than I do...it finally hit me, I am a fool. I have lost thousands of dollars over the years, I've learned my expensive lesson, I will never purchase another product or service plan from Best Buy again.

Best Buy has the absolute worst customer service I have ever dealt with!! I bought a $600 Evo cell phone there a year ago and (STUPIDLY) agreed to their Geek Squad Black Tie Protection for $10/month, being promised that absolutely any problem you have - even if its your own fault, as long as you can bring us the phone (i.e.

not lost or stolen), we will immediately replace it. I brought it in because the phone kept randomly shutting down and repowering for no reason when the battery was fully charged. They told me if I wanted it immediately replaced (which I have been paying for this service for over a year) that all they have available is a downgrade to the Evo Shift. No, I dont want that.

Well, then it has to be "repaired." They sent my phone out for repair for 2-5 WEEKS and as part of the $10/month that is also supposed to include a loaner phone. What they don't tell you is that the loaner phone is a 1995 flip phone! So you're supposed to give up a $600 cell phone for a month (and still pay your cell carrier the full data charge etc.) and get this when it was originally sold to me to be an IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT? Not only did it take almost 2 hours of paperwork dropping the phone off and 2 hours picking it up when it had been "repaired," but my phone wasn't even fixed!!!

The same problem was still happening. I asked to speak with a store manager and all he offered to do was exactly what had originally been offered - exchange for a downgraded phone or send it in for repair for 2-5 weeks and hope they get it right this time! He said it would take FOUR QUALIFYING REPAIRS (FOUR times sending your phone in for 2-5 weeks per time with each time the phone being sent back to you, the issue not resolved before you would actually get a new phone). Do you believe this *** So, obviously, I was not satisfied with those results and continue to tell him how upset I am of this service and in the middle of speaking to me (this is a manager) he says, "Ok, this is enough at the store.

If you want to talk any further, you'll have to call our 1-800 number," and shoo'd me out of the store. Absolutely appalling. I hope he gets fired because that is the absolute worst customer service.

Also, I told the store manager (above him) about this and all she did was say sorry, but there was nothing she could do. Please don't buy anything at overpriced Best Buy and DEFINITELY do not buy their service contracts!!

You're not a fool...you just got suckered in like the rest of us. But what's good is that you're letting the world know now.

Do what you can let EVERYONE KNOW. Best Buy continuously gets away with this stuff and even worse, people complain but continue to give them your money.

I say it's time for a mass boycott of these idiots... :(

took you some time, but it's never too late to learn. Best Buy is not the same good store it started out to be.

Best to buy electronics and computers online or at a local computer store that gives good service. you may pay a bit more, but tis always better that way.

Best Buy-The Worst Customer Service

My boyfriend and I purchases a computer, printer bundle on October 15Th, 2010. We were told by your representative (0016####-the same rep checked us out.) that our computer came with Home Edition of Windows 2010 and all the equipment to hook the printer to the computer. Much to our surprise our purchase was lacking these two items. Along with general computer problems within the first week of us owning the computer. On October 20Th, 2010 Jimmie C. called the local Best Buy,where we had bought this computer, and was told by a woman that she would call him back. 24 hours later there still was NO call back. On October 21st,2010 Andrea called and spoke briefly with a man in the "Geek Squad" named Jimmy. During this time Jimmy hung up on her. Again on October 21,2010 Jimmie C. called back and spoke to assembly the same Jeremiah M. (Jimmy) again about customer service and the over all problem with the purchase. During this call Jimmy offered a discount on the computer cord that was supposed to be included in the purchase, then changed his mind to giving us the cord. He proceeded to tell us that the sales rep "really meant to say that..." and that they have had this problem before, of sales reps misinforming customers of what they are purchasing. We then discussed about the Windows software, he told us that we needed to come and pay another $150 in-order to have what we were told to already come with our purchase. Along with putting us on hold in the middle of speaking. Jimmy ended our conversation by telling us that our option was to bring it back to be satisfied. Drea

Yeah computers never come preloaded with a full version of Microsoft Office, Usually just a 15-30 day trial or something. But NEVER a full loaded version. Sorry you misunderstood what you were getting.

But all PC's come loaded with windows operating system of some kind.

I think you really just misunderstood what you were getting. and to get Office would costs about 150.00

I think there is a misunderstanding here. All the computer DO come with windows home edition, just like they said, or just like you asked.

None of them come with Office, which is what I think you really meant.

That is due to legal restrictions and no retailer can offer those. If you asked if it comes with windows home, and the employee said yes, then everything said was true.

that is the thing they were supposed to be preloaded that is what i paid for BUT there is nothing

Can't quite figure out what your problem with the Windows7 Home Edition is. Computers don't come with separate restoration discs anymore.

The software is preloaded on the computer hard drive and you must have blank DVD's handy to burn your own restoration discs when you first switch your computer on. Normally a new computer will prompt you to do this when just unpacked and first switched on.

You can do this at a later stage but now your restoration discs will include all programs you have installed and might take a lot of blank DVD's to complete. Far better to restore the computer as it came from the manufacturer.

Best Buy - Takes money but accepts no responsibility

When my husband and I bought our laptops from Best Buy, the sales representative persuaded us to buy Trend Micro Antivirus software. The come-on was that the first six months were free. Towards the end of August, we started getting notices that the software was expiring and that we needed to call Best Buy to renew it. The Best Buy representative said that they had our credit card number on file (I was not happy to hear this) and that the software would automatically be renewed on August 31. The charge was posted to our credit card in early September. Almost one month and many calls later to both Best Buy and Trend Micro, we continue to receive from Trend Micro the statement "unable to authorize payment." Best Buy acknowleges that they have received payment, but each person to whom I have spoken claims not to be responsible and will not do anything to resolve the problem. I have only four days left before the grace period expires so I am going to have to buy new software to replace the software I have already purchased.

You need to read the fine print on things. Everything that is "free" nowadays requires a credit card. You wouldn't have been able to get that 6 months free if you didn't swipe your credit card so you can be unhappy all you want for willingly giving them something.
