Never a Best Buy!

I dropped off a Sony DVD player on Jan. 21 2008 for repair and its still not back. Every time I call and ask to speak to a manager, its like a "Top Secret" to get a managers name let alone have one call you back. From reading all of these posts you would think there is an army of us abused customers! Why are we not picketing the stores and taking out ads stating what best buy is doing to us? I for one drive up to Minn. 4 or 5 times a year on business and plan on stopping by their corp. office and dropping off a bunch of letters to their CEO, President, and as many VP.'s as I can find!

It is because everyone thinks the have such great prices. They dont I see the same price or less everywhere else.

And they hire idiots!!!

Support your local hifi stores. Most will match price and know how to deliver customer service.

Best Buy Scam

I made a purchase in january at the best buy in lancaster ohio. During the transaction the clerk told me that i would receive a free copy of sports illustrated. Several weeks later i received a copy of sports illustrated in the mail. A couple of weeks later i received another sports illustrated in the mail. I did not question it simply because, i never subscibed to it nor did best buy charge me for it. Here it is two months later and i check my bank account and see that sports illustrated has debited my account. I wrote to best buy customer service and they reccomended that i contact the store. I returned to the store only to be insulted and sent off by the manager telling me i would have to take it up with someone else. I did some checking online and found that many people also had the same complaint, in fact i see where there is a class action lawsuit being filed in california for this very same thing against best buy. It has cost me $25. Not a lot of money but enough to aggrivate me by being taken in by such an underhanded dealing. I doubt if i have any recorse here but i would like this practice to be exposed and wonder just how many other consumers have been taken in. I would be more than glad to speak to anyone about this and perhaps go into more detail. I intend to send this letter or complaint out to anyone who wants to listen and hopefully jump in and expose this type of dealings. Thank you for your time...Bill Bill Whittier

This is not a scam, look at what your signing and the paper they give you when you agree to receiving the mag - ALSO the introductory letter you get in the mail when the sub starts, above all remember nothing is free....it's a great deal if your not forgetful and remember to cancel! i have gotten some great reading material this way.

Bill Whittier, I work as a cashier at best buy. I know exactly what you are talking about with the magazine subscriptions. However there is no way that you can blame best buy for your charge considering the face that in order to receive the magazine subscriptions you need to swipe your credit card and sign a contract. The first couple lines of the contract that you signed (on the touch pad) clearly state that you will be automatically charged for the subscription after 8 week trial period. And even disregarding the fact of the signature, if you didn't want to be charged, wouldn't handing over your debit card automatically raise a red flag? Furthermore, it is best buy policy to staple the 8 issue trial pamphlet to your receipt (now, i don't know if the cashier in fact did that, but once again it is best buy policy. This is in order to avoid allegations of scamming you). I understand your frustration, but you can hardly blame the company for your failure to read something that you signed. Now, with sports illustrated, we offer a 24 week period for a 100% refund to your account. I suggest you call SI even if you aren't in this period, because they might still refund you. What i am getting at here, is that it is easy to blame the company, but you signed a contract and you should read things before you sign.

feisty38one, you specifically asked for a sound system that fit your price range. You cant possibly blame the car audio attendant for getting you what you paid for.

JOEJOE, just read what you said, totally agree.

like an *** I went back to Worst Buy for a new stereo system. I explained that I needed something with bass as my old car had Bose speakers and the sound was incredible.

I don't have alot of money to spend and they both assured me that they could "hook me up". All they hooked up was my blood pressure as I turned on the radio and the speakers sounded exactly the same as the factory installed ones. When I went back today the guy in the shop said that I would need an amp and sub woofer to get bass and that it would cost me about 400 to 500 dollars more. Are they kidding me with this?

I am so upset that it isn't even funny!!

Now i'm worried about all the purchases I made with my card. Am I going to get some *** magazine I didn't want?

I bought a tv which was defective. I was to call Westinghouse, they said Best Buy.

Eventhough I had a warranty, I went back and forth for four weeks. Today, the Westinghouse told me to go to Best Buy and I did. Best Buy supervisor told me it was not their problem. I said it was frustrating, I would file a complaint with Virginia Attorney General and put a video on Youtube about my experience.

The supervisor said he would take that as a threat and started to push me. Considering I had a surgery on my legs and they had seen me few days ago with crutches, I could not believe he kept pushing me. When I was outside, the general manager came out and threatened me and said "if you ever talk about your experiences, we will file a legal suit, I have all your information, we will take care off oyu. I called apolice and they lied to the police.

For some reason they said to the police they had no camera where the incident happened and no audio on tapes. They could only provide the video where all the way at the end I yelled at them and told them not to push me and they sold me defective tv. Of course, because there is no audio, they lied about that too.

The worst customer service full of lies, threats!

They lie, steal your money. Best Buy = worst customer service, defective products"

I bought my daughter a computer at Best Buy. When it came time to pay I notice that the screen I was to sign on said "I agree to all MSN subscription terms..." huh?

I did not want M$N at all. I told them I couldn't sign that, went to an ATM and got cash to pay them with.

Look and read before you sign. Avoid using plastic with these guys.

I used to sell those magizines and I do not realy agree with best buy and offering those to the consumer... but best buy has a written contract and they must do it...

If it was up to best buy they would not offer them... but so EVERY ONE KNOWS you have to swipe your card and sign for those magizines and when you sign thier a prompt that you must agree with... so it may not be fair but its not a scam becuase you signed your name for it...

im an honest employe at best buy and I sold hundreds of those magizines and I never had one problem... and if you call the 1800 number you get a FULL refund up to 6 months afterwards!!

General manager robert blair - best buy store 266 (fairborn,OH) BEWARE

My son who had to use the restroom at best buy has been accused of stealing a CD and physically pushing my daughter's fiancee for interfering since he was acting as his guardian during that time. He was held for 20 minutes and interrogated. Other staff apologized for the mistake but general manager Robert Blair never bothered to apologize for his actions. Better be careful when using public restrooms!! You might get in trouble and be accused of something that you never did. Located at 2907 Centre Dr Faiborn, OH 45324 store 266. Best Buy Corporate and District Manager - attention!! We demand an apology!!

I went to the local Best Buy to return a Ipod Touch (un-opened) that was doubled up on for a gift. I bought it just before Christmas, and the return policy was on a extended program (10 days extra), which ran out on Januray 31,2008. I arrived at the store at 10 a.m....

Best Buy Store #358 Bad Customer Service

As Written to their Corporate Headquarters: I just recently had a less than positive experience with a floor manager by the name of Aaron in Store #358, 611 Marks St. in Henderson, Nevada. I tried to replace a Camcorder for my 65 year old mother who had purchased it with a 4 yr extended warranty. The model of camera she purchased, Sony DCR-TRV-22, suffered a CCD chip factory recall and the symptoms related to the recall were consistent with the problem her camera was experiencing. When I tried to explain why we were wanting to exchange the camera for a different brand of the same value, Aaron refused to help. He only insisted that he can sell me another camera while I waited for 6 weeks for the service department to determine whether the camera can be repaired. I told him it was a defective part that Sony recalled and was not repairable. That my mother wished to have a different brand of camera of the same value. Aaron did not look at the receipt of purchase or look at the 4 year plan. He did not ask to see any of the documents I had in my hand. He only told me to stand in line at the service department to have the camera repaired and he'd sell me another camera. I explained that it was unnacceptable. I told him that it wasn't completely out of the ordinary for Best Buy to honor the request I was making as it was done in the past by another member of my family at a location in Southern California. In that particular instance, the customer was escorted by the floor manager to the camera department where he helped the customer locate another brand of camera of equal value. Aaron's response was, "Well, take it to that store then." I told him that his response was rude and unprofessional and a return policy should be honored. Aaron refused. This entire conversation took place in the front of the store. I was noticeably unhappy with the outcome. The greeters, who check receipts at the entrance were in earshot during the conversation and with a condescending tone and a smirk told me to have a nice day while I was on my way out. I turned to them and instructed them that not only is it unprofessional to address a customer to have a nice day when they can see that the customer is obviously upset but it is rude to say it when they didn't mean it and as if it were funny that the customer were unhappy. One of the greeters then stepped into my personal space as if to try to intimidate me and told me I had to lower my voice. I told the greeter, as I was leaving the store, that his behavior was going to be included in my report to corporate. Then I heard him say again, mockingly, "Have a nice day." (I don't need to go into how really angry that last comment made me. I'm sure you can put yourself in my place and just imagine.) Normally, I do not bother writing corporate offices when I have a bad experience in a business. I just simply never shop there again and, when the topic comes up, tell everyone I know my experience and encourage them not to do business there. But the behavior of these employees and the attitude of the floor manager at this particular location incited me so much, that I felt compelled to write you hoping that someone can investigate this type of unprofessional behavior. I'm sure that this is not what your corporation or any corporation expects from their employees who represent their business at the public level. Sony Corporation has agreed to replace the camera at no expense. Their support service was exemplary and I have already informed them as much. It's too bad that my experience at Best Buy was so sour that I will probably never walk into that store ever again. And will be very hesitant to shop at Best Buy even if it were a different location.
