Disappointed. Saved Best Buy From a Costly Mistake

I'm very disappointed with Best Buy. After alerting them to a mistake, which could have cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost sales. Their response? First, all they offered is a 'tank you'. Then, when I sent an email to their customer service, they offered a $10 gift card. Seriously? A Best Buy customer saves their company hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost sales, alerts them to a pricing error they knew nothing about, and they offer a $10 gift card? I won't be alerting them to pricing errors on their website any more. Here's a clue for Best Buy: when a customer informs you of a major pricing error that saves you from hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost sales, reward them with something more than just a $10 gift card.

What would they do without you?!?! I had no idea you were so important to Best Buy.

You're right though, a $10 gift card is not enough. You deserve at least an $11 or $12 gift card.

What you did for Best Buy is amazing. We are all honored to have you posting here.

In other words Best Buy says prices can change or are in error, and if that happens they will cancel the affected orders and notify you of that.

Best Buy obviously protects themselves from egregious pricing errors, they don't need your help.

The $10 gift card was a courtesy. Not only are they under no obligation to 'reward' you, they have no need to since they simply would have cancelled the orders and pointed to their price policy that says "price was in error, too bad".

Prices of pre-orders are subject to change. There's a chance someone would have reviewed it in the weeks before relief.

You also have no idea how many sales they were going to have any for how much margin.

The set could sell for $125 and they might only actually make about $5 on the sale.

Don't consider yourself high and mighty.

I should also note that the pricing was on a pre-order set for $15 when the actual retail price of the item was more than $125. Since an unknown number of people set a pre-order for the item a very expensive Blu-ray boxed set, so much for Best Buy showing gratitude.

Ups won't deliver to my apartment,and best buy gives me the runaround

i purchased a samsung galaxy tab 4 16gb 8 inch black tablet,as well as a tablet case, a stylus and a micro sd card from best buy who also gave me a gift card to use in their words in case i wanted to take the items back, they would put the amount i spent back on the card to use later, meaning that i would be forced to spend my money in their store, even if i didn't want to i was informed that my product would have to be delivered to my place,after i requested to pickup the items in the store,after a little reluctance i said fine so the delivery date came and gone, no packages so when i inquired about the status of my delivery they claim that no one was home to pick up the items ,an outright lie and as a result sent the items back to the warehouse this is why i was reluctant to have my products shipped home i left my phone lines clear and i was home waiting for these items, no phone call ,no notice saying they even made attempts as it turns out, they won't even come to my door because of "safety reasons", i live in the projects and they are reluctant to deliver in my area because a chinese food deliveryman got killed around it,as messed up as that is, it has nothing to do with me and me products being delivered,not only is it infuriating ,it's also discriminatory as well oh and the card i mentioned earlier will contain the refund of the item purchase prices,but now i'm having issues with best buy regarding this refund,they claim that they haven't recieved the products when the ups tracking number tells me that they have i'am a very pissed consumer

Will NEVER buy from Best Buy again. Here is one for you. My 10 year old son saved up for 4 years to purchase an iPad. We purchased the iPad, it was shipped to us. It required a signature and no one was home when the UPS guy came. I had my son give him a call in order to get him used to dealing with people on the phone. He was hung up on 4 times. FOUR TIMES. I finally called. I was flaming. They were unable to reroute the iPad to a different address so it was returned to them. Once I saw on my tracking number that their warehouse had received it, I called them to have it routed to my work address instead. It arrived promptly. However, a couple days later when checking the bank accounts, I noticed they had also refunded the money to us. I waited a couple of months and they did not correct the mistake. Out of showing my son what the right thing to do was, we called them to tell them of their mistake. What did they offer us in return? First of all, in order to tell them I waiting on the phone for 45 minuets and was transferred 3 times. Then, they offered a $10.00 gift card. How nice. Best buy has horrible customer service and should probable get their processes and procedures figured out. Don't purchase from these guys.

I bought a metro(switched from tmobile)on feb 24, 2015. I dropped my phone on 3/31/2015 i just added mi utes on the 23rd. i paid for the insurance through b buy. I called to see what i could do they no longer carry metro manager not helpful at all at mall store. Called another b buy they told me id have to contact metro. I called metro after three people the only thing they could do was putmy minutes on an unlocked phone. I called the b buy i bought the phone from again asked for manager and the guy who didnt help me was the mNager.i asked for the corporate office number then he startes looking into it. My problem is. When i bought phone was not asked if i wanted the insurance from metro only b buys ok fine but they no longer carry so im on the phone for 4 hours seriously after 12hr day at work to be told haha u baught our insurance so now that we dont carry this service we wont give u your money back but a store credit u have to change services so your out the money for your minutes. Then if i could have afforded other good phones from a relable and good service i would have stayed with tmobil but could not afford their phone. Then i call corporate to be told ill give you a gift card to best buy but it will not be here for 7_10days. Oh ya i am working out of town and have my mail forwarded and was told they could not send to a po box. Really beat buy. Id understand if you had product but you dont carry. Customer service at two stores and even corporate is terrible yall need to rememsber if you didnt have customers you would not have a job

Rec'd damaged TV via shipping a 2nd time and this one clearly had "damage ticket" | Best Buy in Chatsworth, California

I can't wait to see this store go under. I will fly back to Minneapolis in Richfield MN and have champagne in their parking lot of 494/35W. So....I got a gift card, order car speakers for my BMW - long story, didn't work and never put it BUT spent 3 hours getting a refund for GEEK squad services and they didn't even touch the car. So...I order a TV on line, get it, and pixels are cracked - call online Best Buy, return it and want another one- guy said no problem. I see a "credit" on the gift card when checking balance. WELL, no one was sent. Ok.....I call online Best Buy and the same TV is $20 more and he can't do anything about it.......FINE....order it and now I got one "damaged" and it had a "damage label on the box" and old UPS label with the original guys name on it and he returned it and someone at Best Buy just sent it to me. Back to negative square #3 I guess.

Best Buy won't go under as long as people think that they get low prices there regardless of lousy service. You apparently had purchased stuff there before getting a gift card. With all the bad publicity you stayed a customer.

Best Buy - Gift Card Review from Atlanta, Georgia

Both my husband and I where going to buy otter boxes for our brand new phones . First the sales rep sent us to the wrong location for the screen protectors , then they were out of the product to boot ! Finally we settled on one that would work . We get to the counter ( which has 3 lanes open and a line of people ). I also had a gift card , brand new never used which had 25$ on it . Which by the way I confirmed 2 months previously . I slide the card and it says I have only 8$ on it ! What?!?! I of course call and the woman from the gift card states that it was used but that she couldnt see when or where . And that I never called to confirm anything because " everything is logged and recorded". So I told her great then pull up when I last called . She said she couldn't . I asked her when did I spend the money and she said she couldn't see but that I had . What?!? That's *** ! Needless to say after arguing and getting no where we decided not to buy anything and leave . I am boycotting this store , the only reason I went was because of the gift card. I will NEVER buy anything from Best Buy! EVER!!!!!!

Pre-ordered a new cell phone and get $50 dollars gift card | Best Buy in Las Vegas, Nevada

I did a one month pre-order the LG G2 phone with Best Buy because of the $50 dollars gift card which was the the selling point to go with Best Buy. 2 months after receiving the phone and no gift card. After numerous times being on the phone with their customer service with no resolution, I've given up and now wanting to give people a heads up with Best Buy. I've been on the phone with them 10 times and every time, I was put on hold for 20 mins with no exaggeration and promised that I would receive it soon. Two months and still rolling with no sign of it so this is like a bait and switch.

That's too bad. I used to purchase allot at BB, and enjoy going there just to browse around.

Like a jilted x, I no longer do I have any affection fro BB. Too bad for the employees who's livelihood will be effected due to miss management and the mis-direction of upper management.

I've gotten burned on this also. Not just BB, but other retailers.

I do not purchase anything, unless they give the gift card on the spot, or immediate discount.

There is no reason for any retailer not to give the gift card on the spot.

Target does this. I believe retailers delay this because they know some people wont get hem, And others will forget about them.

People preordered one long before you decided or got the money (via gift cards) to afford to - many as early as it was announced.

Sounds like you got your hopes up and made life *** when you didn't get your way.

You would not have been able to get one at GameStop on Nov 16th either...it's wait in line on launch day or nothing at this point.
