Cell Phone Prices Deceptive | Best Buy review from Spokane, Washington

Best Buy advertises cell phones for sale, but then does not mention you will be paying hundreds more for the phone by the carrier. The advertised price of $49.99 for a Samsung S7 is a lie. You can walk out the door buy paying that plus another fee, but then over the course of a contract, you end up paying hundreds more. Many never realize this. I had an on line associate (Mike G,) tell me I could hand over my $49.99 + the $40 fee and my monthly bill would not change at all. That is not true.

I went to the West L.A Best Buy located on Pico Blvd to purchase a new cell phone and have my old contacts and such transferred over. I must say that this Best buy has horrible customer service, the entire staff were either talking or texting on their personal phones, talking among themselves and not helping! I waited in line for a good hour before getting ringed up, having only a family ahead of me! The personnel by the name of Sonny was incredibly rude, unprofessional, and lacking any knowledge of phones! First off he handled my new phone very abruptly, kept hitting the screen buttons very hard, until I took it away from him and asked him just to walk me through it. He kept looking at his watch the whole time and asked two employees if they could help because he first off couldn't find the Settings app, he couldn't find the volume buttons (located on the back of the phone), and he couldn't figure out how to transfer any of my pictures and contacts over that were previously saved onto my SD card! I would avoid this best buy if you have any dire questions and help needed, and stay away from Sonny who is too incompetent and rude to be working there.

BEST BUY - DOUBLE BILLING

I purchased Dragon Voice Recognition Software online and opted for Store Pick Up. (1) Unit (1) Purchase Order (1) Price $206.00 Confirmed at purchase My credit card company called me to question a duplicate purchase I found that they had double billed me. While the order say 1 piece of software Best Buy billed it twice. While I am out of pocket over $400 it may have been a cheap lesson - I could have been buying a TV or refrigerator. Through the entire process of dealing with the store (pickup) the customer service department and the "back room" I was struck by the lack of concern and motivation. In times when we hand over our most intimate financial information to our retail partners we need to be careful who we are dealing with. I have dealt with Best Buy for years.I am an Elite member and I will never set foot in a Best Buy Store again.

I went to Best Buy this week to buy a Router,Modem, to use with our Comcast service. Encounter 1: In the TV department I had to go and find someone to help me with the Router, Modems that are on display in that department. The person I found in the dept. was a man in his 20's. I asked a question about the Router and he said he didn't know anything about them and that I should go to the Phone sales dept. He then left to help someone with a extra large screen TV. Heaven help that person if he got as much help as I did. He was an order taker not a salesperson. Encounter 2: I looked around the phone dept. where there were 3 or 4 sales people in conversation with one another. Finally a man in his 30's asked what I needed. I told him and he said the only one that I could use was the one labeled Xfinity at a coast of $199. Showed me the only one left on a shelf and walked away. Never asked if I had any questions or need anything thing else. I did purchase the one marked Xfinity. I had looked up information about routers etc before I went into Best Buy and the information on line indicated that other routers would work. I went on line again once I returned home. Looked up Routers, Modems etc on the Best Buy web site. Not a wealth of information on there for the what I had questions about. Encounter #3: I spoke on line with a Geek Squad rep. I understand that they were not able to do a lot with out my paying for their time. They did tell me that there were others that I could use. That I should talk to sales on line. Encounter#4: Customer Service on line... what a joke... they could not understand what the question was about. Wanted to know only what kind of TV I was putting it on. I told them that the TV was HD and it really didn't matter which of my 4 TV's it went on. That they were differant models. Who ever it was on line had no clue. The End: I had never taken the product out of the bag. After consideration as to what I should do I returned it back to Best Buy. This was the second time in years that I went to Best Buy. Nothing has changed in all of that time. They still don't have a clue to alot of things. I worked in sales most of my adult life. I would have starved if I had treated people like the Peoria Best Buy does. Never again.

I am 63 years old and handicapped! I purchased a tv to be installed and the old removed! They bring the tv and leave it in a BOX in my living room! I call and say hey whats up they say geek squad on its way that was JUST the delivery.I wait 3,5 hours call abck again!! And was told for another $150.00 they can come back and install and haul away! I say wait i paid for the insatll and the haul away they say no that was cancelled I say by who they have no idea! I said come back and fix what I had ordered they said for $150.00 we will come back!1 I can not believe how they left a 63 year old handicapped lady with a tv in her living room booked up and no help!!!First and last purchas from this place!!!

Gee what can I say, I thought Best Buy was a solid place to shop and had prices and knowledge to make it worth while to drive to. After a simple request about buying a simple stereo system they said I needed a home theater system. Granted I'm knowlegabe and should have just stuck to my original game plan, I was told using sirus needed this specific unit, along with other things that he assured me was gong to make it all work beautifully. it would do everything I needed it to even though we did not have internet or cable in our vacation home in Mexico. I un-pack the entire system so I could hide it in our car to avoid the typical duty Mexico gets if bringing in anything purchased here. Never the less after hours of frustraiton trying to set this puppy up, I find I need to be on an internet net work and everything is controlled by a t.v. screen etc. I was so frustrated it bothered me for the next few days that I had asked the righ questions went to all this trouble and spent this amount of money to find I can't use it in our remote location. Just what i told the sales guy I didn't want to happen. yep I'm a dumb *** for letting someone sell me this but I trusted the sales person who up sold me big time. And like so many others I'm stuck. Bottom line I will never use Best buy for my needs. Its unfortunate as I own my own company and am the type of customer Best Buy needs to stay afloat. it won't be long, I can assure you they will go under. I saw something in the L.A. Times that Amazon is giving them a run for their money. After reading others reviews I can see the ship is sinking. I should have read the reviews first. if I did this to my customers I'd be out of business in the blink of an eye. I have a few choice words for Best Buy but can't use them on this review.
