I purchased a 32in. Insignia television from Best Buy in L.A. late Dec. of last year. It stopped working and was reported as such late April, 2008. As of June 5th after countless phone calls the television is still down. Right now they know that the part needed will...

Maybe people shouldn't read the receipt. Companies have policies for a reason, they are not scams.

The 15% restocking fee is place on the box in the form of a sticker, how much clearer can that be. And do you know why there is a restocking fee, because people will use the item for a duration of time, and then return it to the store. Not only that, but most stores discount the open boxed items that were returned, the restocking fee covers the mark down cost.

As consumers, it is our responibility to check stores policies as far as returns/exchanges go. When you buy something at Christmas, as a gift, and then try to return it 6 months later...don't be upset if they won't do it.

Best Buy SF, gr eat service

I have been buying a lot of stuff for new place lately, lap top computer LCD Plasma Tv (4: kitchen, living room, bedroom, and garage) with auxiliary speakers(had them install it), washer and dryrer, lots of Cd's and DVD's, washer and dryer combo, Dyson Vacuum cleaner, microwave oven, i-pod, cell phone (spent a ton of money!) and got excellent service every time. Really impressed. both stores, Geary Blvd. and Harrison Street. Sales people helpful. Loss prevention people not all paranoid, short checkout lines. I did have to return a couple of things and it was no problem.

Dishonest and rude managers. Read the fine print Sucker! | Best Buy review from Saint Louis, Missouri

I was in the market for the new computer was willing to spend $800 to $1600 for a decent computer. I found what appeared to be a great deal. I bought a computer for $900 and if the specifications were accurate then this computer was a great deal. I took it home and it stunk. Ran horribly and could handle programs that my 4 year old desktop can run smoothly. I took it back and The supervisor talked me into buying a model that cost about $300 more. I was assured that if this didn't work I could bring it back and get a FULL REFUND. Ofcourse when I tried the computer out is was almost as bad as the first on purchased. I brought it back and they said I could either spend another $600 on a model that would "surely" work. OR I could get a refund but I would be charged %15 fee. I told them I was gaurenteed a return with no fee if I was unhappy with this new computer. I must admit that the girl at the service desk was actually polite and respectful but she said firmly that she can not over ride the policy. At this point I asked to speak with a manager. I waited for almost 40 minutes before he came over and before I could explain myself he just chuckled and said borishly "sorry dude you should have read the fine print" and then turned away and chuckled again. I calmly explained to him I would not have sunk more money into another computer if I was going to be charged a fee. He wouldn't listen and Now i am down almost 200 bucks.

To tech adviser(I'm sure) and Kye

You draw your conclusions with out any fact. That makes you ignorant, unintelligent or more likely BOTH.

More specifically: the software was bought the same day. BRAND NEW! So are you trying to tell me something just released this summer is out to old? PLEASE! You are dismissed ( you can continue to fail at life. Carry on)

And did I remove the trials and junk? I guess you have already decided. Of course I did. Techadviser you are just as lame as Kye. I believe you should get your mommies permission before posting moronic comments on the internet.

If any one else has any doubt as to me complaint then by all means continue to shop at Bestbuy (worst buy more like it). Were service is nonexistent and quality is NONE.

First of all your 4 year old computer is running XP

right? Theres one reason your XP software won't work

on your VISTA computer. It's a diffrent OS so of course it's not

going to work. Know what your talking about if your going to

complain.

It would help a little if we knew the make and model of laptop you are speaking about, too.

I don't suppose anyone ever offered to remove the spyware/adware out of your computer and optimize it either, right? :x

#13083

Did you clean all the trials and ad junk off of your computer? If not, then it's probably running around 60-70 processes when it should be running 30-35.

That's your own fault for being an *** that doesn't know how to properly own a computer.

If you read their ads, everything on sale has a guaranteed stock. Most of the time it's between 2 to 10.

So if you didn't get your butt out of bed and be the first in line when their ads go live on Sunday. Someone else did. Your loss.

Stores being different prices. That happens. Stores in major metro areas (for any retailer) have higher prices. Cost of doing business is higher. But just like someone else wrote, they match their national website for prices. They did that for me on a movie that was $7 cheaper online then in store.

When a unit is sold for a price with a model number attached to it that's called merchandise for sale. Re-market the exact same unit with a different model number and a new higher price and say the old unit is forever b/o'd.

That's bait and switch because you've been hooked on the low price and now, for convenience sake, you can get the same unit for 3x as much right away.

They got me on that and they lost my business for good. I paid $10 more at Sears for the same item without regrets.

prices are always different in other stores do to a different cost of living for each city, state ..etc...also if its on ad u can get a raincheck..no way is this fraud

Anonymous
#28310

if these were advertised like you said they were then they would have to match the price in the ad (false advertising).

You are being ridiculous. Also, write something that is concise and makes sense - spelling and grammar is pretty simple.

Firstly, if it's out of stock; it's out of stock. That means they sold out of the ones that they did have in stock for the advertised price. Secondly, Best Buy does not remove demo models until the unit is clearance or "gone when gone". Thirdly, the flyer clearly states all the necessary jargon, also know as common sense.

Grow up and stop complaining.

#18547

Sorry, but this is not "Bait and switch", as defined by law. More likely, what you ran into was a difference in price due to a "Market reaction". In any event, check the prices on bestbuy.com first, as they are usually lower, and the store will match that price.

Best Buy sold twice repaired computer to me as new

I am extremely upset. I purchased an open box gateway computer tower model GM5472, serial number GCX76 910 14306, on Feb 12, 2008 from the Deptford NJ Best Buy. I had them start it up and it worked fine, so i left. I then went away for active duty military for 3 months. I come back to set it up on 5/9/2008. It started in Vista fine, but after 2 minutes a blue crash screen came up and stated that I should get assistance. I called gateway for assistance and they tell me that this computer has been repaired twice before for the same issues under another name. I was extremely upset to hear I bought a twice repaired computer, with no indication that it was repaired before. I then find out it was originally purchased on 8/22/07 and returned on 12/20/07. So, I basically got suckered into buying a twice repaired, 4 month used computer. This is outrageous. How come they get to return a defective computer 4 months later and wont let me exchange that computer for something else since they know it has been repaired twice already. It is very ridiculous that Best buy would sell me a computer that has had so many repairs, been returned 4 months later, and then sold to me. Now i have the same issues and they won't help me. I will be writing a ripoff report and doing everything I can to show how best buy has treated me. I cannot believe that Best Buy wouldn't help resolve this in any other way except to tell me they will repair it again and again and that is all.

I'm a little confused, here...

Did you purchase this computer "Open Item", or was it sold to you AS new?

In any event, Best Buy has a 14 day return/exchange oplicy on compuyers, and that is why your computer is being repaired and not replaced.

Screwed by Geeks! | Best Buy review from Cumming, Georgia

My computer stopped working. I spent over $300.00 at Best Buys and still my computer would not connect to internet. The Geek who serviced my computer withheld very basic information that could have saved me a lot of money.(things I could have done myself like INSTALL my OWN CD) They wanted me to return for a NIC card (which I did not need) which would have cost another $100.+ with the installation. I chose to go to a private business and it was repaired that afternoon. I will NEVER give Best Buy any more money. The GEEKS suck!!!!!

Video cameras | Best Buy review from Livingston, New Jersey

Greetings, I bought two video cameras from Best Buy and the service was poor. I was told it would work with my mac computer it did not. I order to return it I had a pay a restock fee. I lost money buying the dvd and memory card already. Do not go to the Destin Best Buy. At a previous time I bought a micowave that caught fire. I was not able to return it either because it was past 30 days. I had only used it a handful of times before that incident. I wish I had read more reviews about a store first. I will be very very careful in the future buying from anyone. Thank you

I totally understand your frustration. I recently had an alarm installed in my car by Best Buy.

Yeah it turned out to be a joke. I spent the extra money to have my trunk pop from the key chain which no longer works. I pulled my e-brake and the cover came off (from when they tore my car apart to install it), they left a roll of electrical tape under my hood to melt on my engine. Very careless installers .

What's sad is the deck I want is from there, I will probably buy it and have some where else install it. :(

Lack of customer service training for employees | Best Buy review from Topeka, Kansas

I had a total of 4 trips to Best Buy today - all for the purchase of a vacuum cleaner. I found the product I went there for, purchased it and went home and proceeded to put it together. However, I found that the 3 screws that were needed to put it together were missing from the package. I called the store back and spoke with the same person that originally helped me purchase the item. She said she would take the 3 screws out of the floor model and let me have them. I returned to the store and she was assisting another customer and had another store assoc. help me. He gave me 5 screws - extra "just in case I dropped one." I asked this man if this was the right size of screw and he stated that it was. I was positive it wasn't though. I went home and sure enough, it wasn't the right size. I went back to the store a 3rd time and asked the front door greeter if I could please speak to a manager. This man kept calling a manager and got no reply. Finally, this man pointed at a red-haired man and said for me to go talk with him as he was a manager. Needless to say, this was a complete disaster. This guy offered to have me go home, get my new vacuum and bring it back to the store and he would put it together for me. That was not the issue in the first place. The missing parts were the issue. Long story short, I went home and returned to the store for a 4th time, vacuum in tow, and was pointed in the direction of the return/exchange desk. The young girl behind the counter was absolutely rude and had a very snotty attitude. Folks, there is nothing good to say about this store. They have lost me as a customer for good. All the technology in the world will never take the place of good old fashioned customer service. These people are clueless. I've learned my lesson and will not give them my business from this day forward.
