I purchased a $600 Sony 40 inch flat screen TV on March 11, 2011 along with spending a couple thousand on a computer. The TV quit working, I returned it to Best Buy this morning only to be told that there is only a 30 day warranty period and I should have bought their...

Thanks for the Heads Up. I'll make sure never to buy a television from Best Buy.

And you were right not to buy the extended warranty. And well read person knows that 99.9% of the time they are a scam.

They should have given you another television free of charge, simply as a matter of decency and good business practice. They should follow the golden rule.

Bought a compaq computer on 5/15/10. It failed.Took it back to Best Buy it was unproperly diagnosed

On May 15, 2010, I bought a compaq laptop computer from Best Buy. About the end of April 2011, it began given trouble. I took it back to Best Buy, while it was under manufacture warranty and was told by a member of GeeK Squad that this was a software problem, and this was not covered by warranty. I then called Hp, and my private technician, and they agreed it was a hardware problem. By then it was too late the manufacture warranty had been expired. This geek squad is not always right. Now this computer is going to cost me extra from my pocket, which i certainly cannot afford.

Best Buy review in Sacramento, California: Repair unsuccessful- refusal to replace

Bought a LG enV3 phone to "upgrade" my old phone. The phone shuts off in my pocket almost daily-also has called 911. I took it in for repair/replacement. After over an hour of getting my data transferred to a loaner, and after over a month of waiting to get the phone back I still have the problem. Now I am told I have to "repair" it 3 times before they will replace it. It is a design flaw. Why should I have to be subjected to all the time and fuel loss (10+ mi. round trip 1-2 hours for data transfers each trip) DON'T BUY A PHONE HERE!

I have sent my computer in 5 WEEKS AGO AND THEY STILL NEED 2 MORE WEEKS TO REPAIR THE HARDWARE!!!!!! I don't care if they have to order parts, they should already have those in stock. Staples does, why don't they?

Anonymous
#316150

I actually researched this and they have the WORST costumer service ever and take the LONGEST time!!!! If you are looking for repairs, go to staples... 134567089 times better than Best Buy in every way, price, time, service, and more.

Best Buy has the absolute worst customer service I have ever dealt with!! I bought a $600 Evo cell phone there a year ago and (STUPIDLY) agreed to their Geek Squad Black Tie Protection for $10/month, being promised that absolutely any problem you have - even if its your own fault, as long as you can bring us the phone (i.e.

not lost or stolen), we will immediately replace it. I brought it in because the phone kept randomly shutting down and repowering for no reason when the battery was fully charged. They told me if I wanted it immediately replaced (which I have been paying for this service for over a year) that all they have available is a downgrade to the Evo Shift. No, I dont want that.

Well, then it has to be "repaired." They sent my phone out for repair for 2-5 WEEKS and as part of the $10/month that is also supposed to include a loaner phone. What they don't tell you is that the loaner phone is a 1995 flip phone! So you're supposed to give up a $600 cell phone for a month (and still pay your cell carrier the full data charge etc.) and get this when it was originally sold to me to be an IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT? Not only did it take almost 2 hours of paperwork dropping the phone off and 2 hours picking it up when it had been "repaired," but my phone wasn't even fixed!!!

The same problem was still happening. I asked to speak with a store manager and all he offered to do was exactly what had originally been offered - exchange for a downgraded phone or send it in for repair for 2-5 weeks and hope they get it right this time! He said it would take FOUR QUALIFYING REPAIRS (FOUR times sending your phone in for 2-5 weeks per time with each time the phone being sent back to you, the issue not resolved before you would actually get a new phone). Do you believe this *** So, obviously, I was not satisfied with those results and continue to tell him how upset I am of this service and in the middle of speaking to me (this is a manager) he says, "Ok, this is enough at the store.

If you want to talk any further, you'll have to call our 1-800 number," and shoo'd me out of the store. Absolutely appalling. I hope he gets fired because that is the absolute worst customer service.

Also, I told the store manager (above him) about this and all she did was say sorry, but there was nothing she could do. Please don't buy anything at overpriced Best Buy and DEFINITELY do not buy their service contracts!!

#286314

I realize they stick that stuff in the service contract, but it does seem like a pretty unreasonable set up when you consider it probably costs more to service the faulty phone three times than it does to replace it- especially as the phone is under some poor excuse of a warranty...

Anonymous
#286272

This is what you agreed to when you bought the service plan as it clearly states what will happen if the phone needs repair. You seem smart enough to read, so why are you complaining about it after the fact?

Best Buy proved to be the Worst Buy of my entire life.
Do you remember the days before the big chain stores when there was customer service? I can recall going to G. Fox and being waited on by a sales representative without sending out a search party. I can also recall a "no questions" asked policy of returning...

I hate bestbuy. The geek squad are idiots.

The simpletons only know more than most computer illiterate people. If you know anything you can bee a geek squad supervisor.

They Lie and are not worth the trouble. If you are a geek squad member, I don't care if you are insulted.

Never buy anything from Best Buy

I bought a laptop computer on April 9, 2011 from Best Buy in West Hartford, Connecticut to be used in my public accounting business. Even though it was during tax season and I would not have time to set up the computer, buy and load all of the programs that I needed, and all of the data from my older laptop, it was on sale so I bought it then, contemplating setting up the computer after tax season. Since tax season for me ended one week ago, I recently opened the sealed and undamaged box, only to discover that the computer screen had been damaged. I immediately returned it to the store, only to be accused of dropping the computer myself, and that Best Buy would not exchange the computer for an undamaged one. I did not drop the computer. I deliberately left it sealed and packaged to protect it from being damaged. Imagine spending over $900 for a computer, thinking that if there were any problem with the computer, that the store would stand behind it. I didn't ask for my money back; I merely asked for an exchange with an undamaged computer. And the store refused to replace it with an undamaged computer. I will never purchase anything from Best Buy again. And if you value your money, you would be advised not to buy anything from Best Buy. What was I supposed to do? Before I purchased the computer and taken it from the store, had the salepeople unbox the computer, and try it all out to see if it worked. I was told by an employee at Best Buy that it has questioned buyers bringing back items even one hour after the purchase. Is that the way to treat one's customers? What a store! What lousy customer service. I will never buy anything from Best Buy again.

One more thing, if I worked for Best Buy, my response would be more like, "I apologize for your inconvenience...".

Get a clue, you paranoid *** Best Buy doesn't hire people to go "discredit" people's complaints. I discredited your complaint based on common sense, not because I was paid to.

I would say that you're the scammer william since you're the one who are trying to circumvent clearly posted return policies. You are also trying to return an item that you probably broke yourself.

Too bad for you. Stop trying to commit fraud.

Nope sorry, I don't work for Best Buy, thanks anyway.

Stores have return policies. Try reading them and you won't have a problem.

Despite posting this multiple times and thinking that Best Buy's return policy shouldn't apply to you, you are not special. You are just a bitter *** who is mad that Best Buy didn't treat you like a little princess and broke policy for you.

Waiting a month to open up a package purchased on sale? Excuse me, but people often buy gifts for others well in advance.

So you don't believe that I am telling the truth.

So be it.

And I suspect you are really an employee of Best Buy trying to discredit my complaint. Nice try.

Imagine someone buying a $900 piece of equipment, waiting a month to return it, and then trying to say that the cracked screen was like that when they took it out of the box. How credible would you say that person is?

I'm glad Best Buy didn't believe you.

I don't either.

Try Wal-Mart or Costco. It might be easier to commit return fraud there.

Best buy sucks

On May 13th I placed a call to Best Buy at 10:30A.M. BEST BUY- 5311 SOUTH CALLE SANTA CRUZ TUCSON AZ 85746 (520-294-7660) As usual they have machines and i pressed 3 to speak with an associate, i waited 8 minutes until someone picked up the phone. The girl asked if she could put me on a brief hold? I told her that was fine, little did i know a brief hold means never. I decided to call on a different phone, leaving my other phone on the call, i called and waited 10 minutes someone picked up and hung up on me. next i called again but connected to Geek Squad where i asked to speak to the manager of best buy, he said he will get her for me. 10 Minutes later manager comes to the phone and i explained the problem, she says sorry and asked are you on another line? I can hear music, i told her i was waiting for one of her associates to answer that was 45 minutes ago. all i wanted to know was if i was able to get my home phone replaced because i had a warranty, and in the end i can not get the phone because they no longer sell it. THIS BEST BUY IS HORRIBLE WITH CUSTOMERS, WHY SHOULD I BE ANY DIFFERENT THAN THE CUSTOMER THAT IS STANDING IN FRONT OF THEM. JUST BECAUSE IM CALLING THEM ON THE PHONE DOESN'T MEAN I AM LESS OF A CONCERN...

Best Buy - More like Worse Buy

After waiting for over 1 week to get service on my washer. the tecnician that they sent complained that the water in the washer had a smell. Well of course since I was told no one can come for a week the water would not drain. Well, he drained the water, told me he had to order a part (which he told me he took and told me not to use the washer) and left. Next thing I get a call from someone named Denise saying the because there is an "unhealthy work environment" no tech can come out to repair the machine. I spoke with a supervisor (Angela)who told me that no tech will be sent and that I had to get someone else to go and that they would reimburse me. I told her that since the tech drained it there was no smell and to have another person come out & check..Well she refused. First of all they created the problem by not sending some one right away and secondly their refusal to send another tech is a slap in the face for this customer. I will Never buy another product from Best Buy ever.
