Would not exchange our fridge | Best Buy review from Los Angeles, California

We picked up our appliance and opened it at home to find dents and tried to return it and was accused of physically damaging the fridge. An entire entourage of employees came outside to tell me they couldn't take my fridge for an exchange 2 hours after we picked it up. People, please open your items at the store, in case it is damaged they can see you didn't cause it. Im stuck with a fridge that has dents and scratches and it hasn't even been 30 days. Never buy from Best Buy ever again. Worst service.

Bad advertising and customer service in mansfield texas | Best Buy review from Farmington, Michigan

Went to best buy in mansfield tx to buy my wife a ebook. Finally picked out the nook they had 2 spots for them one at 115$ and one at 249$ so I picked out the basic one for 115$. This store rep that had been helping me asked if I wanted to apply for a best buy credit card to receive a free gift card randomly valued at 5$ 10$ or 25$ and that if I got approved I would get to pick from the random basket and get a guaranteed 25$ card. So I figured I would go through the process we don't use credit cards but having them around doesn't hurt. I applied got approved and picked out my random card, and was told the other 25$ would be done at the register. No problem so far I get up to the register and the ebook nook rings up at 189$. I said no the sticker says 115 she says well this was has 3g let me get you the other one ok no biggie I will walk with you to show you we get to the spot and she says oh this is all we have the 189 or the 249 your choice sorry they just haven't put the spot up yet for the new one and we must be out of the other so they used it instead. I said ok well fine I'm getting atleast 30$ off and its got the 3g svc so fine. We get back to the register and she rings it up along with a cover that I grabbed on our price checking trip that was 15$ it rings up 47 but she just saw me get it and she goes back checks the skew and says sorry these are also in the wrong spot , fine I don't want a 50$ cover just the book is fine. We check out I hand her the random gift card and tell her about the other 25$ off the lady told me about my random card rings up a whopping one dollar gift card and she says the 25$ will be deducted off the credit card purchase. Well no that's not what yall said you said gift card I intend on paying cash and the random card was supposed to be a minimum of 5$.$ So we get the floor rep over and she explains she is sorry for the misunderstanding that she thought the minimum truly was 5$ and that the other was just taking off at the register so it wouldn't matter to call it a 2nd gift card. Ok you say your sorry but now I have 2 huge price discrepancies and a 1$ gift card someone needs to make this right but they never did I called the store the next day and asked for a manager to call me back nothing I emailed best buy and nothing so yes I am @ pissed consumer and yes I am one!

WAAAAAAAAH!

Let me make sure I got this right:

1) You couldn't read the shelf tag that said "Basic WiFi" and the box price tag that said "WiFi + 3G".

2) You got a $1 gift card for free, and a $25 discount for using a credit card for free.

3) You couldn't read the shelf tag that said "xyz cover - $15" and the box price tag that said "abc cover - $50".

Now, you're "pissed" because:

1) They were out of the cheapest nook.

2) They were out of the cheapest nook cover.

3) You wanted $50 off a $115 purchase for signing up for a credit card and never using it, and you only got $26 off your purchase if you used the card.

Wow! You should be pissed...at your 5th grade teacher. He/she should get a serious tongue lashing for:

1) Letting you pass the 5th grade without being able to read.

2) Letting you pass the 5th grade without any concept of grammar or punctuation.

3) Letting you pass the 5th grade without understanding basic business economics (hint: the reason they offer you incentives for signing up for a store credit card is because -- wait for it -- THEY WANT YOU TO USE IT SO YOU CARRY A BALANCE AND PAY INTEREST!)

Yee-haw cowboy! Better giddy-up to that there rodeo with your newfangled eReader and catch up on the latest issue of Big Truckin' Magazine. With a lack of intelligence like your's, the world will never be in short supply of rodeo clowns.

Best Buy Geek Squad Experience

Dear Sir/Madam, I would like to complain about the poor service and very bad attitude as well as lack of customer service performance of the Geek Squad personnel at the Best Buy Golf Mill Store located at 9530 Greenwood, Niles, IL. Three weeks ago I had taken my computer which I had purchased at Best Buy originally to the Geek Squad for advise and was told to absolutely get it repaired because it was a top of the line computer and not buy a new one as I intended. After the lack of communication on their part on what the operating disk for the computer was and several useless trips where individuals did not know what the operating disk was, I was advised to contact HP for a operating disk copy. Unfortunately, when I contacted HP, I was told the real truth that the computer was obsolete and that an operating disk was not available contrary to the Geek Squad guy (as indicated earlier) who originally took my order and said I should absolutely not buy a new computer and that my computer was top of the line. Unfortunately, this individual's remarks resulted in my repairing rather than buying a computer and reminded me of going to the service area at your local gas station in the old days and being ripped up for service costs rather than being at the reputable Best Buy Store that I was accustomed to in the past. As a result of this misleading information, I spent over $500 on repairs and software which I did not ultimately desire had I know that the computer was obsolete and would have bought a new computer with those funds. To make things worst, the Geek Squad guys configured my memory wrong where I now had 250 gigs rather than 500 gigs as well as not updating the computer with the printer disk and back-up disk. When, I took my computer back this Friday to get this corrected and load my printer disk and back-up disk (which the Geek Squad guys had also conveniently forgot to do despite me asking them to do originally as indicated), it was discovered that the mother board had gone bad and that I would have to spend another $300 to fix. Please note that the computer was working fine and powering up before I brought it to the store ironically enough. Needless to say, I have decided to throw out the computer and take the loss of $500 spent originally. When I asked Dan, the last kid (and I mean kid) who helped me at the store if he could give me a credit for past services considering my experience and loyalty to Best Buy, he coldly said he could not help me . Dan seemed like a cold fish with not even an apology for the lack of poor service and advise. Ultimately, I will never use your service again nor shop at Best Buy in the future due to this experience despite the fact that I have been a loyal customer of your store for the past 20 years spending probably over $50,000 plus as evidenced by my Best Buy Silver Premium Card and wife Selma's Best Buy Card. It's obvious you don't have clue about computers. You computer doesn't have 250G or 500G of memory , your hard drive probably has 250 or 500G of space.

Before you judge make sure you know what your are talking about. Not to say Geek Squad knows what they are doing either.

As Robert said go to real Computer Tech and stop your ***! :x

You go to geek squad for help because you obviously don't know about computers so what makes you think you fully understand what a manufacturer is telling you. Also, there's thousands of other customers who spend more than you, at every store. Losing one (you) comes at no loss.

They take your money than don't deliver | Best Buy review from Las Vegas, Nevada

Best buy took my money, didn't deliver the product. I tracked them down, they said it was suddenly on back order, maybe a month. They said they don't call, but if I'd given them a email they would have informed me. I was not told this. I was told the item was in stock. They just took my money, kept me waiting and I would MAYBE get it in stock in a month. It was a $300.00 item and I hope they won't lie again and not refund my money. I'll NEVER shop there again.

Best Buy Recurring Charge Scam

2 years ago we bought the laptop at Best Buy in Fresno. We've moved since then but sure enough they charged our card $46 to auto renew Kapersky AntiVirus. We pay a considerable bill each month to our ISP which includes anti virus protection. When I called BB, didn't even have to ask to refund the charge, that poor Best Buy cs rep must go through it all day long. Why would Best Buy think it's okay ? I'm sure they'll use their corporate lingo to defend their 'when you swiped your card you agreed...' Well I agree I'll shop somewhere else.

reread your post. you had Kaspersky antivirus, not an antivirus that Best Buy created. so Kaspersky charged you, ***.

I had a similar problem. I used to work at Best Buy and I still have friends that work there. So I dealt with them directly becuase I know they wouldn't scam me or try talking me into something I didnt want or need. So I bought two laptops at Best Buy in Dec 2010 as gifts for my mom amd my fiance. This month my fiancé got charged twice for $42.79. He wasn't with me when I bought the computers and I purchased them on my credit card. I don't know how Kaspersky got his credit card info but they did and they charged him for his computer and my moms.

I worked at Best Buy during the magazine auto renewal scam and they would encourage us to do whatever it takes to sign people up for magazines and we were praisEd for signing people up without their knowledge and reprimanded when we didn't meet our quota. I do know they ask you to swipe your card for the subscription and then to sign a statement saying you agree to the auto renewal. However, it it pretty much the same steps you would take if making a credit card purchase and the cashiers would play it off as that. In my case with the anti virus I know I didn't swipe or sign to give permission and my fiancé's card wasn't present so I know that is impossible.

I ended up calling and they refunded the money (in 7-10 business days) with no hassles but my fiancé is missing almost $100 from his account for the time being and all from a gift that I bought him. I am hoping this fiasco is over but from other reviews I have read they havelead me to believe this might not be the end of these charges. Either way this is absurd and I will never shop at Best Buy again!

Best Buy has cancelled 2 scheduled repair visits, terrible customer service

Our LG dryer died. We were told by outside LG repair that it will be totalled. We have made 2 scheduled repair appointments with best buy geek squad, where we had to *** from work & be home. Both were cancelled by Best Buy last minute. They will not give compensation for having to go to the Laundry mat. You can not get a supervisor, you are told they are not available & they will call you& they don't. Very unhelpful customer service. We feel that we are just being lied to. I would not purchase anything else at Best buy.

Buyer Beware | Best Buy review from Denver, Colorado

Went and bought a new 60" flat screen from Best Buy. They didnt have it stock and said for $99.00 they would deliver the new and and take the 57" old one and set new one up. New one arrives and they set it up. Then they look at old TV and say the old tv is too big for the van they have. One tech looks at his watch and says "Oh, it is after 2, good luck getting someone here today". I tell him "no, I paid for you too take this." Well, push comes to shove, they left and I called the store. I went through 4 people before demanding to speak to a manager who said he would get back mto me before he left at 8. Now mind you, I had to take half a day off and then this manager says he is not sure when they can get someone to pick it up, it may be a few weeks. By then I was hot and told them to come and get the new tv and that I was returning my purchase. After he sputtered a few words, they decided to refund the delivery fee. I will never buy a big item from them. NEVER! Product...4 stars Customer service..minus 4 stars

Judging by your complaint, it's clear you are right around 7 years old. I can't blame them for not giving excellent customer service to 7 year olds. Adults are the ones with the money and they tend to get better service.

Someday, when you're older adults will pay more attention to you.

The following, My final communication w/ Best Buy after they FINALLY assigned me a "Customer Care Lia son" Named Brendan.

MY RESPONSE FROM BEST BUY:

"I am sorry about the delay with your order; I am not sure why the shipping would be delayed like this. I am also disappointed about the poor service you received over the phone- we expect more from our representatives."

"I looked up your shipping information and see that your computer has shipped already and has a expected delivery date of Friday 8/17. Here is your UPS tracking number just in case: 1ZWxxxxxxxxxx"

I hope this helps!

-Brendan

Alright Brendan; The computer DID ship AFTER I spent HOURS on the phone with incompetent C.S. Reps. Most as, others on this board have found out, told me that your antiquated system could not even expedite the shipping (At my or your cost) without me canceling and re- ordering the unit. What... Wait another FOUR days to get it processed? Makes overnight shipping a little redundant doesn't it? Remember, It hadn't shipped yet.

No one could tell me where the unit was shipping from. If someone had told me Ohio, (Not California or China), I would have known that there was still a chance to receive it when needed as I live just one State away.

Brenden, I even had one rep. put me on hold to connect me to a supervisor just to come back IN A DIFFERENT VOICE and attempt answer my questions!!! When I finally realized this and called her on it, she told me "A supervisor would have told you the same thing"! I wish your people worked for my company just so I could have the pleasure of firing them. I am STILL amazed at that whole conversation.

The unit did arrive on the 17th, Thanks to UPS getting it from Ohio to Wisconsin in just 38 hours. Pretty impressive as my order sat unprocessed at Best Buy for over 90 HOURS!. Read the HUNDREDS of other posts expressing frustration with the same (OR WORSE) processing times and I find your apology confusing if not insulting. I'm obviously not an isolated case, and it seems your company is getting worse, not better. Your apologies and "disappointment" don't seem to be getting the job done, but that seems par for the course as far as Best Buy employees are concerned.

We used to enjoy and rely on the convenience of the "Big Box Store" as it was the only option to a one stop shop. Enter the Word Wide Web. You're NOT the only fish anymore. In fact, a pretty small one as the www is concerned. My little business seemed to mean nothing to Best Buy and it's employees, however at this point, Our future looks brighter than yours.

All I can do is share my experiences with every possible friend, forum, and contact. Did I mention our company is in Broadcast Media? Expect to be treated as we were.

I Agree!!! I ordered a laptop for my daughter's birthday that was supposed to be available in a nearby store for pickup.

Apparently not.

Then come to find out, it wasn't avaialable in ANY store in the surrounding area; however, my daughter's birthday was THAT DAY, so I was forced to cancel the order because they did not have anything comparable nor did they offer me anything better for the same price (even though the fraudulent advertising was their own) - they continued to hold the funds from my account, even though they showed the item as cancelled, so much so that checks started bouncing and they still refuse to release the funds. Best Buy is horrible and I will due all of my computer business with Micro Center from here on out and with Sears/JCP or some other entity for appliances.

Would not give me my printer without husband present | Best Buy review from Spokane, Washington

Was in store and paid cash for printer. They had to bring in from another location. Asked for my phone#, pulled me up in data base (based on previous purchase)and told me they'd email when printer ready for pickup. Got email, went to pick up and they wouldn't give it to me because the account was under my husband's name. He was not in the store with me at time of purchase. Said they could call him for authorization for me to pick up, but only at phone# on account which was our home# and he was at work. Would not attempt to problem solve.

to comman sense (its "common" by the way) Like John says, it is a security issue. If you want someone else to pick up a product you purchased, you have to tell the associate so they can add their name.

If you purchased something, and some random stranger found your reciept or order number and just came in and said, "hey, im here to pick this up for my mom" and they just gave it to them, you would be pissed. so you cant have it both ways.

Anonymous
#303444

It was a security issue. Best Buy has no idea who you are and no clue you are married to the person who actually placed the order.

When a store pick up item is created, the employee asks the customer if they will be the one to pick it up. If it's going to be someone else (like a spouse) then the employee needs to know that at the time of placing the order. Sounds like you husband placed the order and assumed you could pick it up.

But if that's the case, what is stopping anyone else from picking up your merchandise? It's not bad customer service, it's a good security policy.

I don't know the whole story about why you are buying at BestBuy. I have learned through experience to check around.

I prefer Staples over BestBuy anytime.

My Mother had a simular problem. My family avoids BestBuy.
