Best Buy Card

They cheat when you apply for their credit card. They have two types of cards: 1.) Best Buy reward Zone Card: This card is of no use since you cannot use it anywhere else except Best Buy. 2.) BEST BUY REWARD ZONE MASTER CARD: This card is a normal Master Card with best buy rewards which is somewhat useful and you can use it anywhere. If you apply for any of the card they will run a credit History check on your account and it is only useful if they are giving you a master card. They will tell you that you are approved for BEST BUY REWARD ZONE MASTER CARD. After telling you that they are going to give a Master Card which would work as a any other normal credit card.they will give a simple best buy reward zone card which you cannot use anywhere else except best buy. When I called them to tell that I have received a simple Reward Zone card instead of Reward Zone Master card I was on hold for about 40 minutes and was getting transferred from one department to another and then after long hold the HSBC representative told me that you were approved for only Reward Zone card not the Master card. In the end when I went for clarification I was given a *** Answer that this simple reward zone card has been automatically approved by the system. I was supposed to get the Master card as per representative at Best buy but what I have got is a simple reward card. I was wrongly informed by the best buy associate that I have been approved for a master card and without my consent a simple reward card was sent to me. I am really pissed off with the attitude of lack of proper information by the best buy employees for their customer.

The bank decides what card to give you not bestbuy. There are two applications one with both and one just for the master card.

It's harder to get just a master card so most of the time they use the one with both. Because most people apply so they can buy something lik a mac or new tv.

Guest

You applied for the wrong card. Get over it.

The best buy santa ban

I am really pissed about the way that Best Buy is promoting the ban on Santa Claus!! We already live in a world where our children are seeing too much violence on tv and all around them. Children are no longer able to be kids!! And now they are giving kids the idea that Santa is useless! What the heck?? A kid should not be seeing this on tv, it is making it look okay to be mean. Whoever thought of these should be fired. The commercials stink and I for one will never buy anything from that store again.

Pitiful marketing stratigy.

Guest

You trolls are ridiculous. *** on Best Buy's teet all you want, I completely agree that the Ad's are in poor taste and was looking for a place to voice my complaint.

It looks like you *** are just looking to attack people who have complaints on a website built to handle complaints... Really..

get a life. I'd love to type more but I have better things to do, besides you'll all mindlessly attack this post as you did the original.

Guest

Just because Santa isn't physically real, Doesn't mean the spirit of him isn't. The groups that help people all year round, alot of them even use Santa as a way to raise money.

Kids for years have enjoyed the idea of Santa Claus, why does anyone want to the ruin the fantasy and enjoyment of it?

With the way the world is, with the economy, all the bad things happening why attack one of the symbols of hope. That's why I find the commericals offensive, and they kind of lack creative, attacking Santa Claus really, they couldn't come with a more family friendly gimic, with the tons of money they blow on commericals.

Guest

BestBuy doesn't care if you don't come in there anymore. You never bought anything anyway and are a burden to society.

Guest

Good teachings to your children to be total ignorant retards like you thumbs up! Kids shouldn't be brain washed to think hes actually real when he's a made up character. Good job lying to your children again Thumbs up mommy

Guest

I guess you aren't a parent. Or maybe you are the *** because last time I checked children watch the tv also!!! And thats my choice if I want to buy from them or not and I choose not too!

Guest

You do realize that Santa is not real right? Please don't breed because the world can't afford to support anymore ***

Guest

You will never buy from them because you do not like one of their commercials? I guess we are teaching our kids that brains are useless too!

Best Buy won't let me exchange gift

Received a gift that was purchased at Best Buy. Do not have the receipt. Took the item to the store hoping to get an in store credit but found that they had already taken the item out of the system so they couldn't process a store credit. Funny part is they still sell the item online and in a couple of stores 100 miles away but not in either of my 2 local stores. They could process the return if I had the receipt even though the item isn't in the system. Just a lack of class in customer service. Oh wait I am talking about the company that canceled Christmas orders. Can't wait for the day they go the way of Circuit City because even if they won't admit it, they are on the road already. New companies out there who understand customer service, Best Buy doesn't.

Sorry LOFSJIM, I'm siding with Simon on this one. Best Buy stores have never and will never have the capacity to carry every item sold on their website.

The online assortment is vastly different than what is sold in stores and if that physical location never carried the product or no longer stocks the item the inventory system will not accept a return for that item without some form of proof of purchase. Customer service has changed drastically in the 20 years since you taught your class, and unfortunately because of new technology and fraud, stores have to crack down on policies that may not always seem fair to you. If you recieve a gift that you don't care for, why not SPEAK UP and let that person know as nicely as possible that the item is not for you? I personally do not give a gift without a gift reciept unless it is to a family member I could make an exchange for or give them my original copy.

Return policy info is available through their website, as well as plastered all over the store. I don't understand why you were under the impression that Best Buy accepts returns for any item found on their website without a reciept.

I wouldnt be dragging myself into a store right after christmas, waiting in some crazy line without knowing for 100% certainty that I was going to be getting some kind of credit. Shame on you for blaming Best Buy for your lack of responsibility.

Guest

Remember: The more consumer friendly return policies are, the more money the store will lose having them. It's not the 1940's anymore where customers can get their little *** kissed. Stores are more and more sticking to their clearly posted policies and if you don't like it, don't shop there. With your attitude that stores should bend over for you, you are soon going to run out of places to shop.

With no receipt the store cannot determine if the item was in fact purchased at all, when it was purchased (I don't want to buy an item that was in your house for a year), how it was purchased, where it was purchased, and so on. Receipts are mandatory at every store, however some have exceptions for lower priced items.

Again, a complaint about a store refusing to return an item without a receipt is 100% without merit. The blame lies with the gift giver who didn't get a gift receipt and you for having such a princess diva attitude. I don't like or even shop at Best Buy but they are not at fault on this one.

Guest

Simon, Simon, Simon..it's all about customer service, actually taught a class in customer service about 20 years ago as part of a business component. Was I asking to receive something more than I received?

No..All I asked for was a store credit which was then going to be used to purchase an item in their store. They can then resell the item I returned as it have never been opened and was in mint condition. A win/win situation, I leave a satisfied customer willing to spend my disposable income at that business again. Now did I leave a satisfied customer?

No..Will I go back to Best Buy? No..There are numerous outlets out there selling the same products who know the meaning of customer service other than those companies that have it as a mission statement on the walls of their corporate offices but have no clue as to what it means. Sam Walton was a genius regarding customer service even though the company has swayed somewhat from his ideals. As to them closing it will happen some day as that business is cyclical.

The landscape is littered with electronic companies who gave up the ghost because somebody new came along who did it better. As for losing jobs I've been on both sides, when there was corporate restructuring I was gone and then having to let go numerous employees because of the same scenario. Before defending Best Buy read up on their numerous legal problems with state Attorney Generals, problems with the FCC and see what Greenpeace says about Best Buy.

Had a very good friend who was a district supervisor in the late 90's and early 2000's. Behind the facade they ain't who they appear to be.

Guest

A complaint about a store refusing to return an item without receipt is a completely invalid complaint.

You hope Best Buy goes bankrupt and all those employees lose their jobs when unemployment is high enough already? I hope you go bankrupt.

NO INTREGITY IN BUSINESS PRACTICES!!!

I purchased a big screen television/surround-sound package for my husband as a christmas gift on 12/13/11 - I also paid for the "PREMIUM" Package set-up with included haul away of the old set. The "Geek Squad" (don't you just love the name?!?) arrived Mon. (12/19) and told me that they couldn't haul away the old set because they "didn't have room in the truck". Let's keep-in-mind that my den is small and that I can't have an old t.v.and a new one in there at the same time! The left the new set/surround-sound with me. This is the situation that I have been dealing with since that day: "the store needs to contact you"..."the Geek Squad needs to contact you"...managers and department supervisor promise to call me back and never do...I call the store or the Geek Squad number and spend over an hour on hold AND STILL don't reach anyone...THE TELEVISION/SURROUND-SOUND ARE STILL IN BOXES...finally today (12/23) I call the Geek Squad number first thing this morning and speak to someone in the legal department...all of a sudden, EVERYONE starts calling me!!! Where it stands, old t.v. is supposed to be removed tomorrow, and new one set-up Tues (12/27)...stay tuned...

Tues. 12/27 - everything gets set-up and GUESS WHAT?!?

The brand new television doesn't work - now we have to have it exchanged on New Year's Eve and arrange for "Geek Squad" to come out again!!! Will this madness ever end?!?

BEST BUY CANADA AFTER SALES SUCKS

I had purchased a Samsung LCD about an year ago on boxing day 2010 at a BestBuy store in Ottawa. I had also purchased an extended warranty for 3 years. Its not even been an year and i tried to call bestbuy customer service about my TV as i was having a problem with my resolution. My tv changed its resolution automatically when i connected my PS3, It changed from 1080 to 720. There is no way i amablke tochangethe resolution back so the representative from the customer service departmenttold me i need to call GEEKsquad. It is what they call their tech-support. So i called them and they wantedto charge me $99, just to come to my house and changemy res. I am a student and i dont expect any store to charge customers for their after sales service even tough they have also puchased an extended warranty. I clearly denied paying it and also offered them that i would bring the tv myself to the store and if they could help me there. Theydint even approve of that. Now i am stuck with an amazing LCD with a very *** resolution which cannot be changed untili pay them more money. Doesnt make sense for such a warranty. I wish i could *** the 1-star that i have rated best buy cuz nor do their staff have manners on the phone with their customers and nor do they have good communication skills as i was transfered 8 to 9times on that one call for such a small issue and still unresolved. Very bad after sales service.

The resolution settings need to be changed in the Playstation settings and if you want 1080p resolution, you have to use an HDMI cable. It has nothing to do with your TV.

I would charge you too because it sounds like it's more user incompetence rather than a defective TV.

Best Buy and Best Buy.com

I purchased a tv on Best Buy.com for there online sale price. The process involves you locating a store near you with this item in inventory. I browsed and found the LCD Tv that I wanted and made the purchase online. During the purchase you are instructed that you will receive and email when the item is ready for pick up at your locate store. Two hours later I recieve an email saying that it is being pulled from stock and will be ready in 45 mins. I arrive at the store to find that they are out of the particular item. I ask if I can receive store credit to purchase another tv...um no. I have to call the 800 number and cancel my order, which I do. They tell me the funds will be transfered back....um bank says no. The bank wont release my money and Best Buy wont allow a repurchase using those funds. Per BB@T and Best Buy the purchase will be denied and the funds will be returned in 3 to 5 business days. SO the money i used to make the purchase is hanging out in money fairy land. I will never shop at Best Buy again. I asked if they could reestablish the purchase and I could wait on the original TV or some type of store credit....no again.

Simon's post are part of the reason you won't shop at best buy? That makes no sense.

And I don't know where you shop, but best buy is not the worst customer service out there. I've been to many places, including one of their biggest competitors, wal mart, and their customer service sucks every single time.

Guest

I don't see how you think the internet is always correct try checking ahead of time before you assume something is in stock

Guest

Thats why you call the store ahead of time, Relying on an email system alone to notify if it is in stock is not as reliable as calling ahead of time before you go to the store.

*

As for your bank not releasing the funds to your account Is NOT Best Buy's fault, Its your banks fault it can take 5 to 7 business days for the hold to be released on the funds pretty much all banks do that for security reasons and to give time to validate the funds.

Get the facts straight and become informed before you go spouting off.

Guest

You ordered from bestbuy.com, not from a B&M store and you're upset that your item isn't ready the same day? Ummm fail?

And it's your bank that won't release the funds, Best Buy has nothing to do with it.

It's 100% your fault you're in the spot you're in. Next time if you plan to buy from a store, go to the store and buy it.

Best Buy Identity Infringement

Best Buy is violating the Drivers Privacy Protection Act by forcing a consumer to have their drivers license swiped( getting all your info from the motor vehicle ) to return an item even with a receipt and charged on a major credit card. This is a violation of your privacy and will make the consumer even more vulnerable to identity theft. They say it is company policy. The policy is on the receipt which is after the fact. The policy is not stated before you make your purchase! There is currently a class action law suit that has been filed in Florida on Nov. 22, 2011 for this very reason. BE AFRAID , Be very afraid. Big Best buy brother is watching YOU!

They aren't forcing you to show your I.D. They're requiring you to show I.D.

if you want to return an item. If you don't want to show I.D. stop buying and returning things.

It's a policy to deter serial returners. It's really not the "big brother" issue you're making it out to be.

$95 heist by Bestbuy

Bestbuy sold me the cables they said I needed for the TV I bought from them. After setting it up, there was one extra, costing $95. When I went to return it complete with the receipt and unopened box, they said it was "outside their return policy" of 30 days. This was only two months after I had bought it! I was literally left holding the bag with the $95 cable in it, while BestBuy gets to keep my money. One thing they will not get is my future business. Be sure to ask about their returns policy before you buy!

So it's best buy's fault that you held onto these cables that you didn't need for 2 months, not only is it stated on the front and back of the receipt it's also common sense to know that most retailers have a 30 day return policy

Alan C Xap

Why would I "ask" someone who is most likely to give you misinformation? It's posted at the registers and on signs in the store. Learn the hard way about shopping at Worst Buy.

Guest

Sounds more like you were outside their return policies by more than double as opposed to a "heist".

Who is dumb enough to spend $95 on a cable that you probably could've gotten for $5 on newegg or amazon?

Best Buy: Worst Customer Service I have ever experienced

I tried to used a Best Buy gift card. The amount of the products I wanted amounted to bit over the value of the card, so following the prompts on the web site, I allowed Best Buy to charge the tiny overage balance to my credit card. I received a confirmation e-mail saying the entire amount of my purchase had been charged to my credit card. I called customer service, and after 45 minutes of listening to insipid Christmas music, was informed that there was "nothing they could do." I asked for a supervisor. No satisfaction. I asked for his supervisor. He claimed that he could do nothing, despite the fact that it was their fault, and and when he asked if I had any questions, I asked for his name and his supervisor. He refused to tell me his name or the name of his supervisor. I pointed out that unauthorized charges to a credit card are illegal, and that gift cards are pointless if you can't use them. So sorry, that's too bad. I hung up, and called corporate headquarters. They sent me back to the place I began--unbelievable run-around. I was treated abusively, and I will never, ever, do business with Best Buy again. DO NOT buy Best Buy gift cards, do not trust this company, and NEVER EVER do business with them. There is a corporate culture of lying and deception that is nothing short of disgusting, and they deserve to to be treated by potential customers with same disdain they reserve for customers.

horrible company... i placed an order for store pickup and got an email that said it was ready for pickup.

when i got to the store they said it wasn't available. Of course my card had been charged. they said they would ship one to me when it becomes available but wouldn't waive the $3.99 shipping charge.

I canceled. Waiting for refund.

Guest

Instead of spending all day on the phone, why didn't you just cancel the transaction?

Guest

You could have just cancelled your order immediately. Then re-purchased correctly. You did something wrong during checkout.

DO NOT EVER BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AT BEST BUY!!!

DO NOT EVER BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AT BEST BUY!!! I purchased a Panasonic Luminx DMC-ZS8 in July 2010. In Aug. 2011 the camera failed. (An internal software program designed to require use of Panosonic Brand Batteries Only would not recognize its own battery.) Under the extended warranty program BEST BUY sent the camera for repair twice. This took over 60 days. On the last return, they said the camera was unrepairable and they would give me a store credit to purchase another camera. I HAD NO CHOICE! The $80 I had paid for an extended warranty was no longer valid after they gave me a store credit. A loss of 3years warranty or $60. The store credit was for $149.00 for a camera that I paid $299 for AN ADDITIONAL LOSS OF $150. SUMMARY: I PAID $380 FOR A WORTHLESS CAMERA THAT BEST BUY'S WARRANTY RETURNED $149 ON. A LOSS OF $231. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE AT BEST BUY AGAIN.

the gsbtp is a joke, they will try and come up with any reason at all not to honor it because honestly they dont care about customers only $$$...

its also SO OBVIOUS that SIMON works for best buy or the geek squad because he has to defend them on every post... You will be out of a job in a few years, is bby going to step up for you when the doors close????

Guest

next time don't get the warranty and deal with the manufacturer and their BS. They'd love to send you a crusty refurb camera.

Guest

If you had bothered to read your warranty, you would've known that Best Buy can replace your item with another item with similar specs. The fact that the new camera was at a much lower price is typical.

I could spend $1000 on a computer and in a year, a similar computer would cost $700. It's the way technology moves.

I can't believe how many people are willing to plunk down hundreds of dollars on a warranty, not bother to read it, and then complain when it wasn't what they thought it was.

Somehow this is all the store's fault and the consumer is absolutely blameless. Give me a break.

Drivers license number or no return

I purchased some small PC speakers and found out in the car after opening the box I could not use them. Ten minutes after purchasing them with cash I went to the service desk to get a refund. I was asked for my drivers license. I asked why he needed it and he said that he needed the license number and its expiration date. I asked what if I do not have one. I did not think he needed it. I was told that I would not receive a refund unless I gave it to him. ... Why does Best Buy need such information and what do they do with it ? .... Perhaps they sell it to Washington or the voter fraud industry. .. No matter what the reason I suggest that you shop elsewhere. Walmart does not ask for or require such info on returns. After this ordeal I'll be glad when its their turn to go belly up. Hello Chapter 11. Do not support this company.

I like this policy. If handing my I.D. over every 5 years or so when I have to return something stops the serial returners, I'm all for it.

Guest

This is ridiculous policy. I won't give BB my DL.

If I have a valid receipt, they don't need need more information on me. Unfortunately, I just found this out tonight and was denied my $20 return when I refused.

I'll eat the $20. BB lost a customer.

Guest

Actually Walmart DOES require a license for returns with no receipt because it tracks how often people return things that way.

Can you RATIONALLY explain your issue with providing your driverse license number? If you don't have one, you should have a state issued ID which can be used in its place.

Stop crying about people following policies in place for a reason.

Jess Uku

Sell your ID information to Washington..really? If you REALLY feel that way you're way too paranoid to be out in public.

An ID is required in order to track return history and keep you safe from fraud/theft. Tracking return history allows Best Buy to keep prices lower by preventing the "serial buyers remorse" person from renting out their stock of items for the year. Best Buy got rid of the restocking fees you all bitched about as being unfair and that led to them taking a ridiculous amount of returns on large ticket items because now customers have 30 days to try every 50" tv in the store. Excessive returns cost companies billions.

Anymore it seems people cant be bothered to make informed purchases about what's good, what they need and why it's for them, they are drawn to the sale price on the tag and whatever free items are included. And there's always a better bundle the following week. ;)The preventing fraud/theft is something I'd think most people would be happy about. A Best Buy in my area was able to help local law enforcement catch a guy that broke into someones car and stole their Best Buy purchases, reciept included, and tried to return them for cash.

The service rep entering that ID info provided the all the evidence they needed to catch this guy.

Regardless, many retailers are going this way so dont be surprised in the near future if GASP even Walmart required ID. It's 2 extra seconds at the register, you aren't required to sign in blood, I really dont understand why people get so fired up about providing an ID to do a return.

If you still think it's the worst thing ever, then by all means take your business to Walmart. May i suggest you bring a gun or weapon of some nature with you due to the recent shootings, tazings and pepper sprayings all occuring at walmart on black friday.

Oh and don't forget the fact that Washington ALREADY KNOWS WHATS ON YOUR STATE ISSUED ID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

John N Mzy

They do this in case someone creates a problem so they can ensure they gave the refund to a bonafide person, verified by a driver's license. That's their policy.

I don't personally shop at BestBuy anymore than I have to due to their lousy customer service, but that's me. I don't shop at WalMart for many reasons.

Try shopping at Meijers if there is one in your area. Helpful, smart, hard-working people---unlike WalMart.

Aaron C Img

Yeah seem like the type of nut job that would shop at Wal Mart. Go shopping at Wal Mart because at Wal Mart you get what you pay and thats lousy service and cheap products.

If they need your drivers license then give it to them or don't get the refund.

Policy is policy. Who are you to be made an exception to the rule.

Best Buy Online Items Not Available

Best Buy is great at bait and switch. Many of their items they list on sale are out of stock and unavailable yet they continue to advertise the sales. They also change prices to lower them on items not even in stock or able to be ordered online. The employees are of no help and there is no way to complain to anyone. Best Buy never corrects this bad business practice. I realize they are high volume stores but the lead in deceptive ads are wrong. This must be a violation of some sort with the FTC. Can't anyone make them stop this practice! Best Buy is a lousy company.

Best Buy has the worse customer service.

I ordered a movie online that I had been having a hard time finding in stores. The website said they could get it. 1 month later still waiting for my movie I looked at the order status to see that Best Buy had cancelled my order on this item. I then called Best Buy customer service and the girl I spoke with put me on hold for over 30 minutes. I called back and waited another 5 minutes to talk to someone only to be told that there was nothing they could do, I would have to wait for my gift card to be resent to me (bacause I threw it out after I used it up to make this order), then start all over to reorder this item online. I will never, never, never, buy anything at Best Buy again! I am cancelling my credit card at this store immediately.

I understand what you are saying. I'm currently in a similar situation.

Ordered online on 11/29 a Canon camera body to be shipped to my son in CA. Shipping date was 12/16, then got another email following week saying new shipping date 12/22. Then final email saying camera is now on backorder and no longer available order was canceled. Good grief...

only thing my son was getting for Christmas. In November my local Best Buy had the camera in stock. If I only knew. Called customer service and now waiting for another call in 48 to 72 hrs.

We'll see what can be salvaged.

Not sure what to do at this point. My son is going to be really disappointed this Christmas.

Worst buy instead of Best buy

I had ordered a SD drive from Bestbuy.com. I went and returned in store. That day their website was down for some reason. Hence they gave me a Downtime form and took back the item. They promised that the credit back to my card will be processed next day. But it never happened. I have called them 10 times and gone to store twice but all in vain. My order number is BBY01-4297****3528. I even have the downtime form but do not know how to attach to this forum. The Customer service is pathetic, whenever i call them they say they will call back. But it has never happened.

Does this do any good?

I have a Samsung front load washer that has been junk from day 1. It will start to spin and stop, start to spin and stop. I've been told: I put to much laundry detergent in, used so little that the clothes didn't smell clean. Next trip they told me I put to many clothes in,(even though the salesperson said I should be able to put 8 pair of jeans in easy) so I tried putting less clothes, didn't help. I know other people who have front loaders and they say that their machine does not do this. I'm sick of having them come out and do nothing except say it is something I'm doing. When we purchased this set we paid almost $2500 at Best Buy. I've had them now for almost 3 years and they have never worked right. I'm sick of it. I want something done. One repairman even told me that Samsung knew there was a problem with this model. I called Samsung and they told me that they didn't know of any problems. Really, I find it hard to believe I'm the only one. SICK OF THIS WASHER THAT COST A LOT OF MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
