Best Buy fails to keep promises

We purchased a bunch of furniture from a local RTG and they have a promo going where if you buy the room you get a t.v. it turns out getting the T.V. means you have to go to Best Buy with a gift card they provide for you. When looking to pick up the t.v. they are all out of them in every store in the Jacksonville area. I could drive a few hours to another town to pick it up or I can wait...and wait...and wait... The excuse is "well this promotion was big hit and then black Friday came along and then cyber Monday came a long and now we don't have the T.V. in any warehouse...for a large company they sure don't plan very well. I was supposed to get a supervisor to call me back with other options...but after 4 days I still have heard nothing...so I am paying for cable - but don't have the t.v. - not only that - don't know when it will arrive...I am supposed to keep calling them back every once in awhile to see if it has come in. I guess it would be too much for the to call me...

File a complaint with the SC Attorney General's Office against RTG since they made the offer with the sale of the furniture. You were offered the gift card in order to buy the TV.

If the gift card does not allow you to buy that TV then you have not been made whole by the purchase. Thus the onus falls on RTG, not Best Buy.

The gift card was only the means to obtain the TV. Otherwise RTG would have told you that only the gift card was being offered.

BEWARE OF BEST BUY. COM

so far i've spent 3 hours on the phone with bestbuy.com reps. at first, their computers were slow. called again because i had not received my free gift card with my black friday purchase. at first the person said the itouch ipod was not part of the black friday sale. i waited over an hour while this *** sifted though product numbers. finally she said she found the product number and that it was supposed to come with a gift card. nevertheless, i have not received an email concerning the gift card as of yet. and my itouch is somewhere in santa ana at some random post office. they sent a $300 ipod via ups innovations which lands the product in the us mail. and it's overdue--but they refuse to put a trace on it for 2 more days...like I said a bunch of disorganized, inefficient, unprofessional IDIOTS

Wouldnt return my product i purchased | Best Buy review from Saginaw, Michigan

I purchased a remote car starter for my wife. It has been over 30dasy since I purchased the starter. the local Lincoln dealer told her, that the stater is not the proper stater for the car. and they recomend we dont have the starter installed on her Lincoln MKZence. It could cause problems w/ the electrical system. I told the manager this. the product was still in its original box & I had the original receipt. one customer care agent told me to sell it on ebay. Another agent had me on hold for over an hour. This is why Best Buy is losing market share. And this is the type of customer service you can expect from this company.

So, the 30 day policy should apply to everyone except you? You had 30 days to decide if that starter was going to work for you. That's plenty of time.

Don't let Best Buy get away without taking the return. File a complaint with the MI State Attorney's Office.

Get a written statement from the dealership about the noncompatability. You will need that.

Black friday sale at bestbuy | Best Buy review from Milford, Connecticut

I am a new homeowner who moved in the town of Milford at the month of October 2012. As a new homeowner we need new things for our home to share with family and friends. For two weeks I'm been looking on the world wide web for the best flat screen television deals on Black Friday. If it would be either an online purchase or actually standing outside before store opens as I do every year. Many had great advertising deals for Black Friday on flat screen tvs. Well the electronic store Bestbuy advertised the deal I was looking for, which was a Samsung - 55" Class (54-5/8" diag.) – LED – 1080p - 240hz - HDTV for only $799. The model number #UN55EH6001FXZA with SKU:6846823. I was so excited I couldn't wait to purchase to tv. As I mentioned before, I was looking for a tv. A tv that was bigger than 50" and more importantly with more than 120hz. This was the tv I wanted in my new home. I saw that I had the option to purchase item on Bestbuy's website. So I used my credit card by purchasing it with utter happiness on Thanksgiving morning. My order details of my online receipt matches the description of the television. Took a ride to Bestbuy in Orange, CT to purchase wall mount. While I was there I decided to walk near the tv section and noticed there were many on pallet. The advertisement was plain as day right on top of the boxes of television, "$799 for Samsung - 55" Class (54-5/8" diag.) – LED – 1080p - 240hz - HDTV for only $799". My I also add what I thing is more important is the box says… Samsung - 55" Class (54-5/8" diag.) – LED – 1080p - 240hz – HDTV. So I cancelled my delivery, changed it to pick-up and took it home with me. Early Friday morning I went to work and bragged to my friends I got the best deal for $799. Well my best buddy Chris bought a television Friday on Bestbuy website too. The problem was his purchase description says… Samsung - 55" Class (54-5/8" diag.) – LED – 1080p - 120hz - HDTV for only $799. His model number for his order is…#UN55EH6001FXZA with SKU:6846823. How can this be, two identical model numbers with two different descriptions? After realized I have been ripped off, I called Samsung customer service for answers. I told Samsung the model number I have is 120hz which does not match the box description. After an hour trying to solve issue Samsung hung up on me. The next step, I called Bestbuy and told them the same thing. I was transferred to an Agent from customer care and he admitted it was a mistake. He suggested I bring back tv and get money back. The problem is I was scammed in thinking I purchased a tv with 240hz but instead 120hz. Now that Christmas is so near, all the best deals are gone. This is not how to treat a customer and I feel I was cheated. From pissed off customer, Alan nautic411@msn.com

Buyer Beware!!Best Buy Uses A&E Factory Services for Warranty Repair

The company offers its services seven days a week starting from 6 a.m. to midnight to fit busy schedules of customers. Liars! Unfortunately this is the company Best Buy uses for warranty coverage. Don't use this company or buy from Best Buy! A month to come out for diagnosis. After the parts get mailed to my house the next appointment available is not for another month! Find that hard to believe! All the people answering the phones for them are foreign and have no clue what your trying to tell them. God Forbid a problem arises! Can not speak to an actual tech at all! SOOOOO they can not understand in the 5 times they have been called that when the tech came out to diagnose my fridge he said he thought one of the parts was included with the two he ordered, well guess what it was NOT. So he will be coming out in a month to only to have to order another part. AND I'm sure it will take another month to get another appointment. SO my 2 MONTH OLD Samsung fridge will now take 3 month to have fixed! ABSURD!

Yes, BB does outsource to local companies for warranty work (their Performance Service Plans). I experienced the same timeframes as yourself.

I eventually threatened BB with legal action and I meant it. They then had my item quickly repaired. Just don't meaninglessly threaten to take them to court. Do it if necessary.

BTW!

Feeling cheated and betrayed | Best Buy review from Pasadena, Maryland

I was all excited about the Black Friday sales BB had according to their ads. I wasn't about to go into the store so I decided I would be limited to online deals only. With this limitation, I was considering the following: Roku Insignia 26 inch tv $99 Toshiba 50 inch tv $399 It was never made clear when the sales would actually start. I woke up at 4 AM Thursday morning and proceeded to make my purchase. First disappointment, the Toshiba deal was an in-store only offer, even though it never mentioned that in the ad and clearly showed it after the "online only" section. I read over it another few times since and think BB should have done a better job labeling if they wanted to limit it to an in store only sale. Disappointment #2- I had my roku and 26 inch Insignia in my cart and was ready to check out. I put in all of my information and went to the final processing screen but received an error. It stated that the tv was no longer available, meaning I could not proceed with my order. I didn't understand why they would allow me to add it to my cart if the item was unavailable. I ended having to remove it and buy a smaller tv for a higher price. Talk about being pissed! After my purchase, I vowed BB would not get another cent from me ever. Their Black Friday sales lost them a customer for life!

I believe you completely. Best Buy is notorius for bait and switch tactics during sales.

They use certain items as bait but they are conveniently no longer available when you go to check out. They do this hoping you will buy a more expensive item.

I also suspect the sources of a couple of comments. I agree that Best Buy has become worst buy and their standing in Consumer Reports shows that.

Online ordering is different than in the store. Their inventory is not subracted until someone actually pays. So when you're online, just because you have it in your cart, doesn't mean it's yours.

Your lying, you got the wrong TV and wanted it at another TVs price, and now your all pissy that you couldnt scam best buy. Go cry somewhere else.

Best Buy customer service is terrible!!!

I purchase a pair of Dr. Dre studio beats for my son on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I asked the clerk at the Best Buy store if the beats were going to be on sale on Black Friday & he said he did not think so. Thanksgiving night, my husband & I found many stores offering the same beats discounted $30 with free shipping, including Best Buy. I called the store & held for over 30 minutes & then got disconnected. I called back & waited another 30 minutes or so & asked the customer service rep if they would refund the difference, or if I needed to just re-order the beats & return the original pair I purchased. After a long hold while she checked with a supervisor, she returned & said I could call back anytime on Nov. 27th or later & they would be happy to refund the difference, but to wait until then bc they were so crazy with customers for black friday & cyber monday. I called back on the 29th to get the refund, and after a 45 minutes conversation/holding periods, was told they were sorry whoever gave me that information was incorrect & they price match all through the holidays, but not after Thanksgiving sales & unfortunately, there was nothing they could do about it. Of course now the sales are all off & I am out the $30. I know $30 is not a lot of money, but it is the principle of the matter. I could easily have reordered them & returned the original pair, but was trying to save them having to pay shipping to my house & myself the hassle of the return. So much for that!! Their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced anywhere!!! I will be returning the beats to the store & purchasing them at Target, Wal-Mart or pretty much anywhere but Best Buy! I have always shopped a lot at Best Buy, especially during the holidays, but I will never buy another item from Best Buy again! *** on their part to loose a good customer over $30 that they said they would honor.

There are honest retailers that are afraid to hire ex-Best Buy employees. They feel that Best Buy does not instill good business ethics into their employees.

As most are young, retailers do not want to have issues with their customers that Best Buy seems to have. They want to stay in business.

They tried to do that to me on my printer purchase but fortunately I returned it to the store the same evening. Their retail policy is suspect and after reading your review I have to wonder if some stores coach their employees to mis-represent the facts surrounding prices, discounts, and return/price matching policy.

Thank you for the heads up regarding Samsung products. I have discovered that Best Buy sells lower end appliances at a substantial profit.

If you want quality you have to go somewhere else because most of what I have found at Best Buy is low end junk at medium to high prices. There are better deals out there.
