I purchased a TV. The box had a small dent in it. When I went to assemble the TV, the screen had some marks on it and was defective. It was apparent also that the TV had been repackaged. Best Buy refused to exchange it. They accused me of damaging it. I did not - I handled it very carefully. I had to buy a new one, and the new box also had dents. They claimed they would never let a box out of their store with dents - obviously a false claim. I am suing them in small claims court. I have given them a lot of business, and was very disappointed with how they treated me.

Good for you. More persons should follow your example and spend the time to take action.

All BBB has to do is show the court there policy - nothing else!

Take mous's suggestion and print out ALL similar claims on different consumer websites. Also, if you can maage to get a few of these persons to come with you, that would help allot.

Hope it works out for you.

That is the best way to fight them, in court. Print out similar complaints of their lousy business practices to show the judge.

BEST BUY STORE IN PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA

BEWARE: If you purchase a large scree TV at BEST BUY, in the PLYMOUTH MEETING, MULTIPLEX, be ready to WAIT almost four weeks for your installation! YES you a have a four week installation wait. THEY DON'T tell you this until after you pay and ASK! I not only purchased this 55 in TV, but the sound bar and speakers, along with the TV wooden cabinet. The manager I spoke with was also USELESS and spouted the company is very busy at this time. I responded saying that I was Happy to hear you are selling so many TV.... so then why doesn't BEST BUY HIRE MORE INSTALLERS? Best buy seems to be run as a small MOM and POP Store! I will never deal with this store again.

Best Buy Car Audio!!

I Head To best Buy To Upgrade My Subwolfers and Amp In My 2002 Ford Mustang. First it took forever for a customer service rep to greet me and say can I help you!! Second After talking with the Audio tech guy we agreed on 2 custom Subwolfer boxes on each side of the trunk of my Mustang to free up as much space in back as I can. No problem the Tech says plus he orders me a new amp and schedules the appointment for the install. The day comes for me to take the car in and they call me to say we have to reschedule so I do that for a week later. Then they call me again to say we don't have the parts yet lets reschedule again or I will be in touch when the parts arrive.Parts FINALLY come in like 2 days later and I head on down then the tech says as I sit down Its going to take me several hours to complete. THANKS for letting me know in advance so I could have made arrangements for transportation while you screw up my car audio. Needless to say with no ride I spent the whole day roaming around Best Buy looking at things to kill 3 hours of my time. Now heres the good part...Everythings done after 3 hours I sign and pay on my card The tech say your good no problems it all works fine now. I get out look at it and A big box is in the trunk no space at all and nothing like he discussed with me on the custom fits he said he would do as discussed and promised in the beginning then I start it up and a loud rumbling happens as it starts to clip and make alot of noise. On the way home it cuts in and out after the tech assured me it would no longer do that he checked all the wiring out, Last night going to work it cut completely. Nothing works now!! I was lied to and it was a *** rush job done just for a sale. Its all going back today and Im sure they will find a way to screw me out of alot of cash restock fees and that *** we cant refund the installation charges ***. Needless to say Im very pissed off now and would not recommend them to anyone in the future and will never go there again after this.

Allowing employee friends to cut in line | Best Buy review from Port Richey, Florida

I took my laptop into the port Ritchie, fl best buy for warranty work at 10am on jul 4,2013. there were two geek squanders there and a third person checking us in. our line was a combination of elderly and/or disabled wating to be checked in. a couple who came in after us went to the front of the line and one of the geek squad took care of them before us. I complained to the manager and was told the couple requested that geek squader and that allowed him to cut in line. best buy is imploding. service was always their strong suit and with what I experienced and all I read service is all but gone and so soon will be best buy

Best Buy refused my check

This happened on three occasions: 1) purchasing Christmas presents for people, 2) buying a new laptop, and 3) returning my laptop and purchasing a different model because there were too many glitches in the original. I needed to use a check because this was a Saturday afternoon, banks were closed, and I couldn't raise the limit on my debit card. Their automatic checking system apparently thought I was a deadbeat identity thief despite having 10 times the cost of that laptop in my checking account. Staff were very rude and refused to get a manager to override the system as managers have done for myself and others in the past. I have taken my business elsewhere, to one of Best Buy's competitors, and will not give them any more money until they get rid of that blasted TeleCheck system.

That blasted TeleCheck system! BB realize on it. If that system shows any discrepancies, then BB will refuse the check. Simple as that.

Doesn't matter how much money you have in the bank!

Looks like you may need to correct your financial situation, rather than blame BB for protecting themselves.

Insignia Blue Ray Player | Best Buy review from Atlanta, Georgia

Insignia is no longer providing updates for many of their Blue Ray players. This is a issue since new movies require a firmware update. They stated that they will no longer support new firmware and to buy a new Insignia blue ray player. Well F them. A customer service person said that I should buy Sony products because they have better support for the products they sell. Not really sure what to do but I am planning to video me smashing it in Best Buy on the floor if they do not offer to make me whole. Never buy Insignia products.

Yes, I bought two last year and their rep told me once they stop selling the modules they discontinue updates! As this is EVERY YEAR , this is done on purpose to force people with perfectly good DVD players to buy new!

This is the issue with products made in China/overseas... support.

If you smash it in the store they WILL arrest you for causing a public disturbance. Not worth it. If I was in a store and someone did that, I'd call the police myself - not knowing what's going on, I'd be very concerned about my safety and the safety of others with and around me.

I'd suggest videoing yourself smashing it at home with an explanation, boxing it up, taking it to the store, and calmly letting Customer service know of your displeasure, and showing them the remains. Oh, and as a bonus, they can keep them! lol

Here's a weird idea. Make a small shallow box, say 1x2 foot, fill it with a few inches of polyurethane, and place the broken pieces in it so when the poly cures it hold the pieces in place. Then you have a memento! lol

There is nothing illegal about smashing your own property. The most they can do is ask him to leave and trespass him from the store.

Since only a mouth breathing cousin humping *** goes into BBY if ANY other options exist, this is hardly a punishment.

Horrible, horrible customer service | Best Buy review from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Bought 60"TV online they said they could deliver. After I paid for it they said it could only be shipped. Im elderly so I need delivery&setup. I said to cancel the order and they said they did but soon I find out they didnt and now I must deal with receipt of the TV by UPS, arrange return, then wait for reimbursement. Their mistake is causing me grief and I am worried I will have problems being reimbursed. Customerservice gives nothing but a runaround, their employees are incompetent and they outright lied to me since. Do not chance dealing with this place, you will regret it. They are a nightmare.

I fell in one of their stsores,was transported to hospital by EMS, and xray revealed I had broken my arm. Store never called me to see what kind of injuy I had. No follow up at all from Best Buy. I am disappointed that Best Buy has so little regard for their customers...

My fiance and i were in best buy in appleton wi to try and renew our phone contract. The pudgy customer service person in the mobil dept ignored us after he was done helping another customer and then went up to the next person to walk into the area to ask if they needed anything. Mobil phone companies should rethink their use of bestbuy as a place to get their phones out. They do not have the best customer service and this is not the first time i have had an issue at this store. For years now i have preferred to make the drive to green bay to shop at best buy, but we needed to look into phones and this location is closer. Well never again will i use the appleton east location for anything

Incompetent Grand Junction Store Manager | Best Buy review

I was in Denver CO when I went to a Best Buy to get some RAM for my computer. The geek squad told me which RAM to purchase for my computer. Installed RAM when I got back to my home, Telluride CO... RAM did not work with my computer plus I only had 8 days left on my ability to return product. I called Best Buy customer service number in order to exchange for correct RAM... I was told that the closest store was in Grand Junction and my call was transferred to someone at this store. I told the person that was impossible for me to return within the 15 day return policy as this store is over 2 1/2 hours away from me. The person got his store manager to talk to me... I told him the situation and he figured out what the correct RAM I needed. I told him that I would be back within a month and asked if he would order the correct RAM for me to exchange. He agreed and took my name & information. At the end of our conversation he said the new RAM would be waiting for me when I got to the store... I arrived at Grand Junction Best Buy on Fri june 28th. The girl at customer service had no record of my name or order... She said I could return my RAM (@ $100) for the RAM I needed (@ $50) but the new RAM would have to be shipped because no one had ordered it... No way around it I gave her my work address. I was very upset and had asked to talk to the store manager who kept sending her back without helping her. When I said I wanted my credit card refunded for the difference she said I was only eligible for store credit. ( I had intended to use my credit toward a new hard drive...) I told the girl that I had no intention of spending anymore money at Best Buy and to just give me the difference in cash if she couldn't put it back on my card,,, Again she left to talk to someone, came back and gave me cash... At the end of this transaction I asked to talk to the store manager. Eventually a guy with tatoos all over his arms came out and said he was one of the store managers. He said that Best Buy had given me my money back and that I had "got what I wanted.' I told him the exact date I had made the call to his store and asked him who was the store manager that day. He said that without me having a name there was nothing he could or would do. Initially I was never questioned about the fact that the merchandise I was returning was over a month past the 15 day return limit... I can only assume it was this guy I had talked to and he remembered giving me an extension yet never bothered to order the part I needed nor had the guts to tell me he had f'ed up. Pitiful.
