STILL waiting on preorder Note 4. Was told I'd have it launch day (10/17) then was told Saturday, then Monday, then Wednesday. Called today (wednesday) and wasn't even given a time, just told its a "waiting game." Was also told they had one for sale to the general public at a different best buy, when they still had preorders to fill. Totally disorganised and borderline scammers. Utterly disgusted with their customer service.

Bait and switch on preorders | Best Buy review from San Jose, California

Preordered Note 4 in store more than a week before launch. Was told by employees and Samsung reps at the time of pre-order that I would guaranteed get the phone on launch day. Launch day comes, I show up, told no phone, no eta on when. They claim they only got two or three phones in but had hundreds of preorders. Asked if I could go ahead and pay for it since mine is outright purchase. Told no, they won't. Asked about the $200 trade in deal, told no, they only accept iPhone 5 and only for new contracts. Spoke to store manager who said he didn't care what the website said, it's his store and he won't honor the deal. He then said my phone could be in the next day according to his list. Next day comes, no phone. Call and ask, told it will be one more day. Repeat to Tuesday- finally call their 877 number and was told it could be several weeks before I get it and they have no way to know when it even if they'll get enough. They did make a note on my order to detail the store manager refusing to honor their deal. They said if he doesn't, to call them back. When I pre-order anything, it had always assured that I will get one launch day because I planned ahead of time. If best buy had more orders than potential stock they should have stopped taking preorders. Some people have been reporting being told the employees are only selling phones people with new contracts make numbers. Others are walking in with no preorders and walking out with a phone. All of the miscommunication and fuss had guaranteed one thing - I will never pre-order from them again.

I recently noticed two charges on my Visa statement for 'AGI Geeksquad'. Not knowing what this was for, I called the number provided. She couldn't tell me much except that it was for the two cell phones I purchased two years ago and also explained the warranty coverage. Well, that's nice and everything but I NEVER purchase extended warranty and I for sure didn't this time. I then called Best Buy to try and figure this out. The girl on the phone pulled my receipt up on the computer and said that my purchase was paid for with my Visa. She said that once I swiped my card, that was my authorization for the purchase of the warranty. UH, NO!! When I got home I found my info package which also had my receipts attached. I used my debit card to pay for the start up costs of the phones. I NEVER GAVE MY AUTHORIZATION TO PURCHASE A WARRANTY, AND HOW THE *** DID YOU GET MY VISA NUMBER TO CHARGE THIS TO????? I went into the store and spoke with a salesman that I had previously purchased my tablet off of (and no, the warranty was not purchased). I told him the complete story and, just as I was expecting, he gave me the usual song and dance. He told me some *** that the wouldn't have anything with my signature (approval) because it was an electronic signature. UH NO AGAIN! You won't have my signature because I didn't purchase it. The amount that I have paid over the last two years is way more than these *** phones are even worth! They are a bunch of thieves!!

Then when your phones break or stops working, you're gonna wish you had the insurance and then you'll be mad at them for not helping you. "But Mr salesperson!

(Whines the customer) I bought these phones here and I'm a very entitled person so replace them for me now!" Ane then the sales guy or manager will tell you that Best Buy doesn't make the phones but the manufacturer does and you need the warranty.

We'll see how important the warranty is to you when you break you're phone. Charges usually don't magicly appear on ur card because Best Buy feels like charging you for no reason

On Sunday, October 19, 2014 I entered Best Buy in Valdosta, Ga. to return a television I purchased and received slow, bad service! They treated me as if I had stolen the television, after being told by an employee at the store, that Best Buy is the manufacturer of this product ('39' Insignia flat screen tv, Model # NS-39D400NA14)that has stop working completely!!! I was told that I get another brand of equal value, later was told I had to have my receipt because that model was deleted! And I needed proof of purchase. I was told by the manager that they had looked for that model number and could not find it, then she can back and told me that many was purchased and the only one with that model number was with a card, previously I told Lanaia that I was not sure and she scanned my card and said it was not my card, when it was my debit card. They went in the back and start whispering and came back and stated , without the receipt I am not going to help you! Goodbye! I asked if I could have some assistance taking the tv out, because my bad back and they stated no! And that I needed to leave! The manager called the police and filed a criminal do not re-enter the store against me, just for asking for assistance with one of their products! I was not threatening nor was I acting in a threatening manner. Then the man of the store stated you need to leave, when I asked for the main office number! I felt like I was ripped off and lost my money and told who cares! After she plunged the tv at me on the counter stating not able to help you, good-bye!!! I stated you're a real witch! After being treated so badly! They had me wait over an hour and a half, giving me the run around and I could see what they were doing, telling me that there were not purchase with that model number. when in fact I went home and pulled the purchase from my debit card and had no problem pulling it up. Lana scanned my card and I know she pulled up my information, but , they continued to state they had no purchase with that number. Looking at me like I stole the tv!! I am very upset and disappointed that I even purchased from this store! I have over 50 complaints with the same item. There is too many problems, complaints and unfair treatment of customers! Launch or delivery of phone set for 9/17/14. As of 10/18/14 nearly 6 pm, I have not received any communication from Best Buy. I have called the best buy mobile. After talking with DeAngelo then spoke with manager Sandra. Bottom line - they could not tell me why I dont have my phone. They don't know when I will get my phone and they are sorry that no one has contacted me via email to let me know about my phone or any delay. HELLO BEST BUY - I want $100 taken off my bill for every day past Oct 17th that I have not received the phone I preordered 2 1/2 weeks ago. ESPECIALLY SINCE SOME FOLKS PREORDERED THEIR PHONE AFTER ME AND HAVE RECEIVE THEIR PHONE. I am FIghting mad. Reduce the phone price by $100 each day I don't have my phone and pretty soon you will owe me money. THIS IS RIDICULOUS>

Im still waiting...order is still processing. C'mon, we PREORDERED the phone, so we could get it as soon as it came out. I was told that it should be at my door by the 25, basically 10 days after its released.

I used to love shopping the best buy in Santa Fe, NM until years of experience walked out the door when the new GM took over and let them all go due to his inexperience and insecurities' who ever chose him as GM made a huge error in judgment..now the store for months on end is poorly stocked with empty shelves in the video section looking like ghettomart! The GM is also not a nice person to begin with. This forces those of us living in Santa Fe having to travel over fifty miles to Albuquerque to much nicer store's to get what's needed which is a travesty. The best buy corporation managers need to get a grip on the facts of what's going on here. My money is going elsewhere as my friends feel the same way and believe me I'm a life long resident with a heck of alot friends and acquaintances I have had discussion's regarding your sinking ship of a store which we all agree on.

Wow how they suck. I purchased a new laptop yesterday and it crashed today. Ok no big deal This happens. Picked up a second new unit when I returned the first crashed unit. Actually upgraded a little more. Here is their problem, I paid CASH. My mistake I guess. After getting the second unit I never opened the box. Thinking about what this dum sales twit told me about the new computer it did not make the grade. Called a few other computer stores, shot the sales twit lied to me. Yea I know that's a shocker but it happened. Now I am really passed. Went to take back the new unopened unit back. Remember I paid CASH. Seams best buy does not refund CASH to customers over $100'00 they will mail you a check in 4 to 6 weeks. Called their head quarters phone number and was told by a manager that with all the returns they have they would need to keep at least a $ 100,000 in cash on hand. Guess they have a lot of returns everyday. I WILL never step foot in another one of their sorry stores again and hope they go belly up. And these twits wonder why their sales are going down.

You're a fu*#ing idi ot, (can't believe this site blocks words like idi ot and $tupid) but anyway, yes you're a f*#ing idi ot. Every retailer does the same thing.

Anytime you purchase something that's really expensive and want a refund, they will mail you a check if it's over a certain dollar amount. Walmart and target do the same thing.

So you can plan to not go to any of those stores either since you're so entitled and the rules don't apply to you. And it doesn't take 4-6 weeks, it takes maybe 1-2 weeks.

Both the companies you listed market in gray goods. Read the fine print.

Unless it specifically states that it is an sealed USA model you you will most likely receive a model from overseas. Overseas model, no warranty, manual in different language.

Absolutely Horrible. | Best Buy review

I am a student at the University of Mary Washington and was in need of a new MacBook because mine had failed earlier that day. My mother drove two hours to meet me at the Fredericksburg location on Carl D Silver Parkway, and we discussed the different Macbook options, and prices, and student discounts. An employee quickly came over and offered to assist us. After making the final decision on which MacBook I wanted to purchase and what discounts I would receive, the employee went to go retrieve the laptop. It took at least fifteen minutes for him to finally find the keys and retrieve the new laptop. Once he finally brought the laptop over to my mother and I, I had to remind him again about the student discount, because he had already forgotten. So, in order to get the student discount, the employee attempted to pull up the internet on one of the display laptops, and didn't even know how to do so. Finally, with my help, he pulled up the browser and went to the Best Buy website and had me put my .edu email on College Student Deals. I checked my inbox, and I had received a confirmation email. I clicked "confirm", and was told I would receive a second email with a barcode that they could scan in order for me to receive the discount. We waited five minutes, and I had not received the second email. We tried this twice, and still, nothing. Another employee came over, and told me to check my junk folder. It was not there, and he told me to wait. I waited, and still, nothing. I ended up doing this on three different devices; my phone, as well as two display MacBooks. I had to log in and out of my school email, keep entering my .edu email on the website, keep clicking "confirm" on the first email, and after at least seven tries, I still did not receive the second email with the barcode to scan. I was told to wait ten more minutes, and it was suggested I tried logging into another computer and trying again. The employee that was helping me kept running over to who I assume was a manager, asking what to do. He kept running back and forth, and the higher-up employee never ended up coming back over to help, when clearly there was an issue, and the original employee was so obviously struggling. I asked the original employee if it was possible to manually deduct the discount, since I am a student and the glitch was on Best Buy's end. He went over to the other employee again, and came back over to let me know that they were unable to do so. I was finally told that if I were to receive the email with the barcode to scan in two weeks, that I could bring in the barcode along with my receipt, and would then be able to receive the student discount. If I didn't receive that email in seven or so tries and forty-some minutes that this went on, clearly I'm not going to receive it within the next two weeks. The original employee told me at least four times that the student discount would get me $100 off of my macbook purchase. But later on, I was told (very bluntly and completely unapologetically by the higher-up employee) that this was incorrect, and that the discount was only $50. This was incredibly misleading. I told the original employee that I also needed to purchase Microsoft Office for my new Mac, and he told me that with the purchase of the laptop, that I would be receiving $20 off. Then, when we got to the desk to pay, he told us that it actually wasn't the $140 Microsoft Office package which I was purchasing that was $20 off, but the $65 one-year package? This made absolutely no sense whatsoever, and was also extremely misleading. My mom then wrote a check for the two items. The employee had no idea how to run the check through the machine, and had to call someone else over. Another employee came over to help, and once the check went through the machine, it supposedly showed on the screen that he needed to call a number to authorize the check. The original employee had no idea how to use the Best Buy phone, so he proceeded to use his personal cell phone to call the number. He then had no idea what to say to the woman on the other end. He called another employee over to help him, and was then told that he needed to use the Best Buy phone, and so he had to be shown how to do so. My mother requested that the employee that had come over to help stay, because it was obvious that the original employee had no idea what he was doing. Once the original employee was reconnected with the woman who was trying to authorize the check, the other employee that had come over to help finally took the phone and talked to the woman to verify the check. After another five minutes or so, and after asking my mother all of the verification questions, and after having to repeat her phone number three times, the check was finally verified. During the time that the employee that came over to help the original employee was on the phone and waiting for the woman to verify the check, my mother told him that we had been having an awful experience so far. He responded by brushing off what my mother said by saying in a slightly sarcastic and uncaring way that "bad days get better". And at least four times in a disconnected, condescending manner, he told us that he "appreciated our business" and "thanked us" for "being so patient". He did not ask us what had occurred, did not get the manager, and did nothing to attempt to improve our negative experience. So, an hour and a half later, and $120 more than we were originally told that we would have to pay, our time at Best Buy was finally over. This was the absolute worst customer service that I have ever received. I will surely be taking my business elsewhere, and will never purchase anything from Best Buy again.

I bought a tv about three years ago. LG, plasma 50inch. With 5 year Warranty. The tv started shutting off on its own, randomly. I had LG come and replace the main baord. Still not working and now it was under best buy at this time. I called customer service which were i was treated very rudely too. I was set up for geek squad to come fix the problem. Two men came off and on for over 6 months. Replacing 4 parts. They still could not firgure it out. One was an older gentlemen and a younger one. The younger one treated me as though i did not know anything because i was a female. Funny, how he still could not do his job and fix my tv. Either way he continued to act as though he could not give me the go ahead to get a new tv because he did not know what to tell the insurance company. Not only that he acted as though it was money coming out of his own pocket. I finally after 18 months of this going on i threathened to go to our local news consumer watch to let people know where their warranty money was going, nowehere.Just the thought of what i went through is a nightmare and makes me wanna cry thinking about. I was told by the deerfoot meadows manager they would contact geek swad and see why this was going on for so long. I never heard back. The amount of people that had come through my home and seen what was going on was enough marketing on best buy alone. Dont waste your time or money or Sanity!!!!!

Please do me a favor, go to costco return *** you used and abuse and then do it to amazon... before long you wont have anyone to return stuff too...

Agreed - Costco is one of the few places that actually goes BEYOND their return/exchange poolicy without any kind of hassle. I have purchased electronics, mattresses, and auto parts that I returned successfully without any issue, with good reason - all outside the timeframe in which I was supposed to be allowed. Great service!
