Best Buy - Installation Review from White Lake Township, Michigan

Went to purchase a new TV decided on a 60 inch Sony. Price in store was one price...checked google since Best Buy does price matching....Oh I found a cheaper price. Imagine the sales rep surprise when I informed him Best Buy's own website had it $150 cheaper. They did honor the price. I have seen it the othet way too. Dishwasher on line doesnt show free installation but in the store they have a sign showing free installation. While its convenient to order on line and go pick it up, its worth the few extra steps to go and check the in store price or make sure you check the on line price when purchasing items in the store.

Stores do not match their own online prices. Really they don't match any online price.

Dishwasher nightmare | Best Buy review from Glendale, Arizona

They need to be reported to someone who regulates business practices out there . We bought a dishwasher from them online. They sent us several informational texts about delivery. They did not tell us that we needed an extra part for our dishwasher. I got that out of them by calling to ask. Then they never told us that in "our area" they did not install and that they would not take the old dishwasher away unless it was unistalled. They are horrible, leave out vital information. I face a day of my husband swearing and trying to install the darn thing himself. All because of Best Buys lousy customer no service. Awful ..will never purchase online from them again.

Best buy is the absolute worst! I have never been treated so poorly or experienced such awful customer service in my life! The only reason we purchased our "new" (but it was really used, had water in it and did not get the insulation with it or the box) dishwasher is because they wouldn't return a TV that was ONE day past the return policy. They have GOT to be trained to pass the buck on every call bc that is what happens every single time.. it's unreal. My husband spent 4 hours with them last night just to resolve NOTHING. Not its 8am and we're starting again. This was NOT our fault, yet we are doing all of the leg work and trying to fix it. All we want is a warranty as they sold us a used dishwasher with no insulation or box at the new price..is that so much to ask? This is the 3rd time we've dealth with BB and this will be the last. They have not only lost us as customers, but our friends and family and anyone else we know will be advised of this terrible stressful service as well.

Wouldn't let him off work to attend his sister's wedding | Best Buy review from Tulsa, Oklahoma

Details
My fiance worked for Best Buy and they wouldn't let him have a day off to attend his sister's wedding. He gave them three months notice and confronted them about it again a month before, and they told him if he didn't show up to work that day he was fired. I'm appalled they treat their employees that way and I know we, our families and friends, will never shop there again. A wedding is a once in a life time event and I can't believe any manager would refuse to allow someone to attend their sibling's wedding. That's a horrible way to run a business.

When you work retail you work when they tell you, quit or get fired. Those are the options. Most retail companies are run this way so if you are going to boycott a company for denying time off to employees be prepared to boycott a lot of them.

@MattD78

So you are saying that all retail stores are run like Best Buy. NOT.

Best Buy, IMO, have less heart than other large retail stores. Since they treat customers like dog kabooty why would they treat their employees any better?

@MattD78

I have worked retail before for a different company and they were very understanding of when I needed off. So long as it's not excessive, how can you be okay with a company denying an employee the once in a lifetime chance to see his sister get married?

Bad product. Not standing by what you sell. Product misrepresentation | Best Buy review from Seekonk, Massachusetts

Sep 22, 2013 bought HP Envy 700 desktop computer. Also bought Microsoft Office Professions 2013. Less than 45 days past warranty, motherboard fails. Hp shrugs and says, "oh well". Bought new computer, tried to install Office Prof. Had to call Microsoft where they tell me that the key I received with my purchase was only good for 30 days and can't be used to install Office on new computer. So now because of a computer I bought at Best Buy fails just after warranty, I also have to buy new software. Believe, me I would NOT have bought a single use copy of the software had I known that was the case. I can't believe that anyone would sell a computer with a motherboard with an expected life of 14 months!

It doesn't sound like anything was misrepresented. If you didn't get the best buy coverage it's not their responsibility to fix your computer after you have had it for a year.

It also sounds like you understand how Microsoft licenses their software which in no way has anything to do with best buy policies. Point the finger where it belongs.

Seems like this should be a complaint under HP not Best Buy. It's not Best Buy's fault the keyboard failed and that HP would do nothing (though being after the return policy there's nothing HP has to do either).

Best Buy Gift Card and Apple Products

1.0
Details
I tried to use Bestbuy Gift Card on Bestbuy.com to purchase an IPAD. After entering the card ID and PIN I hit Submit. It never finished the process and threw an error "Oops something went wrong...." On second attempt, I realized my card balance was now zero. I was logged in with a Bestbuy member ID and I could not see order either. After contacting the toll free # on back of the Gift card, I was informed that when ever a client attempts to purchase an Apple product from BestBuy.com this is the end result, your card will be zeroed out and your order will never go thru. I was advised to wait for 24 hours and if the cards are not replenished call the toll free # and they will take care of it. When I called next day exactly after 24 hours, I was told they can re-issue me another giftcard and it will take 7-9 business days. Here I am trying to give them business and all they manage to do is dig a bigged hole every time I spoke to someone. Insult to the injury is that this is a "Known bug" yet they manage to give you an option to use Bestbuy Gift Card toward a purchase of an Apple product. If I Bestbuy, I would be courteous enough not to provide the client that option or at best give them a disclosure before they go thru that process. I have to wait 9 days before I could make the LAST purchase at Best Buy or I should say WORST BUY!!! Never ever giving my business to Best Buy again.

I bought a "new" washing machine and I find out I bought a used one at the cost of a new one. | Best Buy review from Chapel Hill, North Carolina

I bought a new LG front loader for 500and change in 3/2011. Never had a problem until last week. A Sears repairman came out and when he opened the unit to replace a motor pump there was a rusty screw driver in the bottom corner of the unit. I have never had the unit worked on for any reason until last week. So we're did the tool come from. LG corp states they delivered the unit to Best Buy in Aug of 2010 and it was not uncommon for someone to buy the unit and bring it back and Best Buy resell it. So I called Best Buy corp and they said it states new on my receipt so it was new. The next issue I brought up was the twit that sold me the unit stated it came with a 10 warranty and I did not need additional coverage. What a dumb *** I was. I should have know it only covered the drum and motor. I trusted them and they screwed me. How do you ever know what your buying?

After conning us to buy a Geek Squad protection plan on a 75" Samsung TV, Best Buy refused to honor the plan when asked to replace or repair the TV, when it stopped working properly only 2 months after it's purchase. TOTAL SCAM. We are now out of pocket for $3000.00....
