Purchased a point-and-shoot camera online to pick up at the Milford, MA store. First bad sign was the 10 minute wait to pick it up even though I was the only customer there. Then when I had an issue with the quality of the video, Alan the manager refused to refund my money. Alan the manager made a choice to send me away upset and lose any future business from me. Over a camera that they probably would have sent back to Sony or could have sold as a return and still made a good profit on. Rather than stay upset about this, I've decided not to buy anything at Best Buy again, and post my experience wherever I can. The 50 bucks they made off of me will be the last, and it may cost them alot more business.

So the manager just said no. No reason or explanation?

It's really kinda hard to form any opinion on your complaint with no details other than you ordered camera online to pickup in-store, it took a long tome for pickup, quality of video bad, manager refuses refund.

See the problem? Its basically a summery which doesn't really help in readers form any opinion.

Best Buy - Installation Review from Richmond, Virginia

If you are ever getting new appliances, don't use best buy! Their website is impossible to use and delivery does not include installation. Installation is also done by a third party that is different from the one that delivers. Have fun getting it all scheduled. And it cost $140 bucks for them to install a dishwasher. This was after I specifically chatted with a "customer service rep" on the website when I ordered AND VERIFIED IT WAS INCLUDED. Save yourself the hassle. I only got installation set for the same day as delivery because I threw a fit.

Best Buy review: Return Policy/Customer Service

This company as a whole is renown for having the WORST Return/Refund Policy. The customer service at the Phoenix Happy Valley Norterra location provided Horrible Customer Service. I went in to get ear buds replaced under the extended warranty that I had purchased and the "Acting Manager" Greg decided that he did not want to honor the replacement because I did not have a government issued ID. I did provide according to the policy stated on the receipt a picture ID and my debit card which also had my name on it. Mind you that this was all over a simple $20 pair of ear buds. If I had a problem with something this small....Can you imagine if you had bought a computer? Good Luck with that! If you find product that you would like there, I would recommend going to another brick and mortar store (Wal-Mart) or look online (Amazon) for a place that does a price match. YOU DO NOT WANT TO GO THROUGH THE RETURN PROCESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!

Best Buy review: Additional Expenses Incurred With Geek Squad Coverage

We have been long-time Best Buy customers and have noticed that their customer service has declined during the past couple of years. Most recently, I tried to get an issue resolved that pertained to their Geek Squad coverage. At the time we purchased the 1-year coverage, we were told it covered anything that happened to our new laptop within the first year -- no additional expenses would be incurred. Well, when our laptop stopped working after 3 months, it was brought in to one of their stores and they ended up charging us $85 for a data transfer fee. I filed a complaint through their website to no avail. Then I called customer service and got transferred 3 times because no one knew which area I truly needed to speak with. Then I wrote corporate and received a denial of our refund request for the $85. Their reason was "labor charges are non-refundable since they account for the time it takes our agents to complete the service." LAME! Like they don't make profit elsewhere to cover labor? If we had another choice where we lived, we would not shop at Best Buy. Too bad Circuit City isn't around any more.

Your laptop clearly died and best buy replaced your laptop, right? but you have stuff on YOUR laptop that YOU want BACK right? Please explain to me and the world how that is Best Buy PROBLEM? Allow me to explain something simple.

You buy a tire for your car, okay... you with me still. warranty on the tire is 50,000 miles. come to find out the tire has a recall or just plain out bad.

You go to the tire shop to get the "warranty" and you bring with you a new set of rims same size but new rims, but you want them to place new tires on new rims that was not part of the original transaction...... you following?

Never buy the extended coverage without reading the contract line by line, word for word. Even then they'll do their level best to squirm out of it!!

Ignore the promises from the sales drones, they will tell you almost anything it takes to get you to buy it. When you sit down and read the contract you bought you'll see that it covers little to nothing and you can count on having to pay something!!

Bought a Toshiba lap top from best buy. The hard drive fried - after only 6 months. Certainly Best Buy wasn't responsible for that. Called Toshiba who told me to send it back after trying to retrieve info on the HD.Took it to my neighbor computer store and after running on their machinery for 1 1/2 weeks it was absolutely determined that I could not retrieve information. Called Best Buy who told me they would send it off to Toshiba. Went to Best Buy and they insisted that they had to do tests on the computer. They initially couldn't find my purchase because they had inputted my phone number incorrectly. Finally we got that straightened out - fix the number - but actually they didn't. Days later I got an email saying they tried to call but had the bad number and needed to talk to me. Called the 24/7 number talking to someone in Utah. He tried to get hold of the store and told them I wanted it sent to Toshiba and told me that was going to happen. Instead it was sent to someplace in KY - a Geek Squad location for repair. When I got notice of that I called the location and asked to speak to the manager. He assured me that someone would call back. They didn't. I have asked repeatedly if they are refusing to send it to Toshiba if promised , return it to me so that I can send it to Toshiba. At this point they are claiming that they will return it in over a month. They are claiming that Toshiba lies and will take longer to return. Now I have just gotten a call from the manager saying that it was never sent and I should pick it up. I have lost weeks not having my computer. Luckily I picked another one up at Walmart costing half the price and having much better components. Beware - there is nothing that Best Buy asserts that is true!!!

I don't really care about any of the other parts of this complaint, I have never dealt with Best Buy for anything like this so I won't try to say anything one way or the other. But I do want to comment on your update specifically the "Wow, so much for Freedom of Speech." statement, and all I want to tell you is this is the internet you have no freedom of speech on anyone's website, if they want to remove and censor their site guess what they can. I'm not saying its right that they would remove negative stuff related to them on their site but just realize its their forum therefore they have the power, your rights mean nothing on their site or anyone else's.

Stopped by Apple Store yesterday, February 9th 2015, to see if the technicians would be able to fix the phone. After review of the phone, Apple determined that unauthorized modifications by a third party had taken place and that voided the phone under Apple's limited warranty.

Basically, Apple told me that the phone was ineligible for service. Went to the Best Buy store in Gainesville VA and explained this to the store manager, a young lady. She listened to me and told me there was nothing they could do and that I basically had a paper weight.

Thanks again Best Buy for unsatisfactory service. Caution to all: go anywhere but Best Buy to purchase your phone.

Purchased a I-Phone 5 with the service plan in Jan 2013. Phone screen cracked in Nov 2014 and Best Buy sent me a refurbished replacement phone. January 31, 2015, I stopped by Best Buy in Gainesville VA, because the replacement phone was having technical issues, key pad malfunction (not opening up, sending texts and calling without my initiation). Told my replacement plan had expired on January 29th and that they only cover refurbished phones for 30 days. Told that resetting phone to original factory might help - it did not...problem continues. Call Geek Squad and basically told that I have no recourse and that I have to go get a new phone. Needless to say, I will never step into a Best Buy again (platinum member). This is unsatisfactory that I paid for a replacement plan and I was provider a refurbished phone that does not work.

I sympathize with you. I've read many reviews about GS destroying data.

I know someone who this happened too. The main cause is that owner did not backup there data, and in many cases, had never backup up their pc!

This doesn't help what happened...

The bottom line is... NEVER take your pc/laptop to ANY repair place unless you have previously backup up your data.

1. Purchase an 2+ tb external usb drive (Seagate has a 5tb external for around 130-155.

I have one and it's).

2. Backup your entire hard drive - not just your data.

Note: If you purchase a WD hard drive, you cane use a WD version of Acronis for free. Note: A free backup is Aomie avail on cnet.com.

I use it. Works great. 3. Do a full backup at least every few months, AND, save at least 2 backups.

4. Perform backups of your data every week, and, save the last 10 - 20.

I have visited this store twice and have recieved horrible customer service. The first time I came into the store 45 minutes prior to closing to upgrade my husband and I's phone I was told they were no longer doing activations. So I said ok and called another bestbuy mobile and asked if they were allowed to do that and I was told absolutely not. So I returned to the store and told them they were unable to decline buisness because they wanted to go home early. The associate stated thats what they were told to say. Totally unprofessional!! I let it go and today when I go in to get a sim card replacement they told me they dont do that, that I had to go to at&t itself and they would help me. So once again I call another store and they tell me they do, do it they just charge. I returned and told another associate not the one I had spoken to previously and he said ok with charge of $30 which I was ok with paying. He asked the associate I spoke to when I first visited the store and the associate came up to me and told me he sent me to the at&t store so I could save $30. Which was not what I was told!!! He clearly stated I cannot that only at&t. I will never be visiting this store again. Associates are not well informed and are doing things very unethical.

Bought Back to the Future Trilogy. One of the disks was damaged. Josh and Braydon of Best Buy on Nicholasville Road in Lexington, KY would not give me my money back. Would gladly have exchanged it but there were no other Blue Ray Copies. I have spent thousands of dollars at this store and get treated this way. They would have ordered me a new copy but I can do that with better results. Recently bought a printer and it took 3 visits to get the right employee to assist me in downloading the right app. for my Surface RT Tablet. Their wifi was so bad in the store they could not download the app. It wasn't until my third time in the store that an employee took the time to hook my tablet up to the same printer I bought in the store with a USB and downloaded the appropriate app. Given the version of windows on the Surface RT it is difficult to accomplish much with out assistance. This is my fault for not doing much research before purchasing the tablet at Best Buy Mobile in Fayette Mall Lexington, KY. They definitely offer no assistance in resolution of issues. I asked if they would offer classes in use of Windows Surface Tablet and although the employees in the area selling the Surface merchandise wanted to do this it was decided by management tis was not in the companies best interest. I have spent thousands of dollars at best buy but they have lost me as a customer. They do not really care. They just want a pay check. I have no doubt however that Josh and Brayden at he Best Buy store in Lexington on Nicholasville Road will have a job for any length of time. A store that offers this type of service will not be around much longer anyway.
